Meet Diana Feldman

We recently connected with Diana Feldman and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Diana, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

When I was 21, I graduated college, hoping for an acting career. But I went to a graduation party with my fellow graduates and, on the return home, was hit by a drunk driver. and became completely disabled. It changed my life. After being cut out of the car and rushed to the local hospital, I was in critical condition with two shattered legs and placed on a respirator with the hope of saving my life.

In the hospital while on the respirator, I had a near-death experience, which inspired me to understand that we are more than our body and mind, and I became in touch with my spiritual self. This view of body, mind, and spirit led me to the resilience I would need to learn to walk again and regain a life of service.

I created a nonprofit organization that ended up serving over 200,000 underserved youth in schools through creative drama and drama therapy techniques.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I have been a pioneer drama therapist for over 30 years and created a drama therapy method called ENACT that served over 250,000 students with trauma in underserved schools. My evidence-based method has been written in peer-reviewed journals and most recently described in my book, ” Stuck in a Role: Releasing Trauma in Teens Through The ENACT Drama Therapy Method,” It will be released by Routledge Books in May 2025. The method uses a signature role-play method and customized theater games that are delivered by therapists and actors.

I have a private practice in NYC working with children, teens, and parents and run training sessions in the ENACT Method for other therapists and practitioners.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I think my intuition has always guided me when I learned to trust it.

My creativity and love of acting and improvisation.

My sense of humor has served me in relationships as well as resilience.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I love partnering with other therapists and actors who work as teaching artists. I love running groups in youth-serving organizations, schools, and hospitals. They can contact me through my website: Dramasol.com. or info@dramasol.com
