Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Max Beebe. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Max, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I attribute my work ethic to my journey and experiences over the past several years. In 2018, I founded Deadbeats, an Audio Engineering company, driven by my passion for sound and creativity. The following year, in 2019, I expanded my entrepreneurial pursuits by launching O’Mega Images, my video production company. During this time, I balanced multiple jobs, which required a great deal of perseverance and dedication.
Despite the hardships and relentless schedule, I was determined to make my dreams a reality, believing that hard work and commitment would eventually lead to success. After working three jobs for five years, I finally saved enough to dive into my passions full-time in 2024. This milestone allowed me to start ByteWise Digital with my business partners, Dakota Disher and Michael Woodworth. ByteWise Digital serves as an umbrella for all my ventures, as well as those of my business partners. Through ByteWise Digital, I can bring together Deadbeats, O’Mega Images, and our partners at Summit Sites and Lens and Pen, creating a comprehensive suite of services for our clients.
This journey has taught me resilience and the importance of pursuing what you love, no matter the challenges. By fostering collaboration and combining our strengths, I’m able to channel my energy into exciting new creative ventures while supporting the growth of others within the industry.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m currently involved in a variety of ventures that allow me to support my community and help local businesses thrive. I’ve filmed TV commercials, composed music for state senators’ campaigns, and created content for national and international companies. A standout moment was when I helped Hinsdale, New Hampshire, during the pandemic by filming their graduation ceremony for a drive-in movie presentation—a creative solution that brought joy to the graduates and their families.
I love showcasing small businesses and helping them grow their online presence. With over a decade of sales experience, I utilize captivating storytelling to effectively promote my clients’ brands. Working closely with the town of Hinsdale, I’ve contributed to the expansion of four businesses, creating jobs and reducing taxes for the community.
As a Liaison for the Hinsdale Economic Development Corporation and the Keene Young Professionals Network, I’m dedicated to fostering connections and opportunities for others. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that my work makes a difference. I’m grateful for the support of my business partners, Michael Woodworth and Dakota Disher, as we continue to collaborate on exciting projects.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, I believe the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to learning.
1. Resilience: The journey is filled with challenges and setbacks. There were times when I faced failures, but I learned that these moments were essential for growth. Each failure brought valuable lessons that have shaped me into a better business owner.
2. Adaptability: The ability to adjust to changing circumstances and pivot when necessary has been crucial. The business landscape is constantly evolving, and being open to new ideas and methods has allowed me to thrive despite obstacles.
3. Commitment to Learning: I have always embraced the mindset of continuous improvement. Staying curious and seeking knowledge has helped me refine my skills and expand my offerings.
For those early in their journey, my biggest piece of advice is to never give up on your goals. Expect setbacks along the way; they are part of the process. From failures, you will find the greatest opportunities for growth and learning.
Additionally, I encourage you to connect with local organizations that align with your passions. For instance, I have a local TV station where I can rent equipment and seek advice on editing or filming techniques. It’s invaluable to learn from others and tap into resources in your community. Remember, it doesn’t hurt to ask questions and network; these connections can significantly enhance your knowledge and craft.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The primary challenge I’m currently facing is that our industry is highly specialized, and with smartphones increasingly replacing traditional cameras, it has become more challenging to find clients who recognize the value of professional services.
To address this, I’ve teamed up with my business partners, who are talented web developers and creative writers, to transform our offerings into a comprehensive one-stop shop for local businesses. By expanding our services, we can better meet the diverse needs of our clients and demonstrate the unique benefits of professional production, ultimately helping them stand out in a crowded marketplace.
