Meet Jennifer Weiss

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jennifer Weiss a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jennifer, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I found my purpose pouring cokes! I was a flight attendant for eight years at a major airline. It was hard, but it was also beautiful. I met people that were going to bury their children, carried dead soldiers home in the belly of the plane to be buried, I dealt with fussy people, drunk people, mean people, and kind and wonderful people. I saw miracles on the airplane and encountered so many unique and amazing people while on my travels! Learning to love people with a pure heart, walk in peace in the midst of chaos, were major stepping stones in finding my purpose.

My time on the airplane as a true servant, prepared me for my new assignment as a publisher. I wrote a book called Holy Spirit Adventures, God at Work in the Marketplace, which chronicled my journeys on the airplane. The Lord led me to start a publishing company to publish this book, but I quickly realized that everyone has a story to tell, and I could help! Each soul is so precious to God. He has so many encouraging love letters to write through our testimonies and the creative words He gives us to share within a book’s pages. You could say that my purpose is to help others fulfill their purpose! It is one of my greatest honors and a privilege to walk alongside people to encourage and give wings to their words through the publishing process.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I have a God-given gift of encouragement, and I love words! It makes total sense that I would be a book and writing coach, and help others publish their stories. Sometimes people just need someone to believe in them! I’m excited to continue to keep speaking, writing and encouraging others with the power of their stories and testimonies. Our words will outlive us and they are a powerful tool!

I enjoy speaking at retreats and conferences on anything to do with Jesus and the importance of writing. I am also venturing into screenwriting! I had a dream, and in it I saw the opening scene of a movie! I knew I had to write it. I took several trips to the beach and wrote a political thriller type movie set on the airplane. I recently had another dream and I knew it was a new movie idea! It’s on a bit of a serious, and very important subject, about human-trafficking.

Dove Publishing House, the company I have the honor of stewarding, and I are about to launch a talk show called the Grace Grit & Glory Show-Our stories for God’s glory. Our personal testimony can be the key to someone’s breakthrough, and I have a very special line up of guests with powerful darkness to light breakthrough stories. We all need to know we are not alone in our struggles and we can give hope as we share our overcoming victories. Expect the launch episode to be out in the first quarter of 2025.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Important skills that were most impactful for my journey were learning to listen to the little nudges. I call them breadcrumbs, and God places them along our path to let us know we are headed in the right direction. They are leading us somewhere! Also, paying attention to the dreams that God put in my heart and following through even in resistance. You truly have to have God’s grace and some grit to complete assignments successfully while on this journey we called life! One of my favorite quotes: “Without God, we cannot. Without us, God will not.” — Saint Augustine

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

As a publisher, I have read quite a few books! I love each and every author’s story that I have had the honor of publishing! They are all incredible testimonies that point to a powerful and loving God. I know this may sound basic or even religious to some, but the Bible is my handbook and has come alive to me recently.. I grew up knowing there was a God, but not feeling any kind of true connection. It was all about rules, without any relationship. I ended up trying to make my own way through this world by hard work and hustle. I was thirty-two when I ended up having panic attacks and a lot of relational discord. I felt so lost on how to find true joy and serenity in my life. Now, at 53, I am finally connecting the love and relationship with God’s written word, the Bible so it is my absolute forever fav book. If people read it from a perspective of God’s love, it changes the rules to a beautiful love letter and how God endlessly pursues His beloved which are each and every precious soul on this planet. I highly recommend it. Five stars. 😉
