We recently connected with Claudia Revilla and have shared our conversation below.
Claudia, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
“My resilience comes from a combination of my upbringing in Mexico, my family values, and the challenges I faced when I moved to the United States. Growing up, I was surrounded by a culture that celebrated the importance of family, hard work, and perseverance. My parents taught me that no matter the obstacles, it’s important to stay strong and keep moving forward, especially when you’re working toward something you love.
When I moved to Dallas, it was a big adjustment—not just culturally, but personally. I left behind the traditions and environment I was familiar with and had to rebuild my life in a new place. It was during this time that I leaned on my love for Christmas and the joy it brought me growing up. I realized I could use that passion as a way to connect with others and create a sense of home, even in a foreign land.
Starting my business, @xmasbyclau, was another test of resilience. Building a brand from scratch, especially in a competitive market, wasn’t easy. There were moments of doubt and challenges that made me question myself, but I reminded myself of the lessons I learned growing up—to stay focused, trust the process, and adapt to each situation.
My resilience is also deeply tied to my family. My husband and children inspire me every day to push through challenges. Knowing that I’m creating something meaningful not just for myself, but for them and my clients, gives me the strength to keep going.
Ultimately, resilience, for me, is about staying grounded in what matters most: love, passion, and the ability to find beauty and joy even in the toughest moments.”
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
“@xmasbyclau is all about bringing the magic of Christmas into homes and businesses. What makes my brand special is the personal care and passion I pour into every detail. For me, Christmas is more than just decorations—it’s about creating spaces filled with warmth, joy, and unforgettable memories for families and communities.
What excites me the most about what I do is the opportunity to connect with people on such an emotional level. Every tree I decorate has a story; every home I work in becomes a canvas to celebrate love, traditions, and the holiday spirit.
This past season, I had the honor of decorating over 40 Christmas trees, both for families and businesses. The trust and gratitude of my clients inspire me to keep improving and expanding my services.
Looking ahead, I am planning to offer workshops and personalized consultations to help even more people bring their holiday visions to life. My ultimate goal is to continue spreading the magic of Christmas, one tree at a time, and making the holiday season truly special for everyone I work with.”
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
“Looking back on my journey, I believe the three most impactful qualities that helped me succeed were resilience, creativity, and the ability to connect with others.
Resilience was essential, especially when I moved to a new country and started my business from scratch. There were many challenges along the way, but staying focused on my goals and learning to adapt to different situations allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.
Creativity has been the foundation of my work. Decorating Christmas trees and designing spaces requires not just an eye for detail but also the ability to turn a client’s vision into reality. I’ve learned that creativity flourishes when you take risks, stay inspired, and trust your instincts.
The ability to connect with people has also been crucial. Understanding my clients’ needs, building trust, and creating lasting relationships have made my work truly rewarding. I’ve found that empathy and excellent communication skills are key to delivering something meaningful to each client.
For those who are just starting their journey, my advice is:
1. Embrace challenges: View every obstacle as an opportunity to learn and grow. Resilience comes from overcoming hardships.
2. Nurture your passion: Keep learning, exploring, and staying inspired in your field. Creativity thrives when you remain curious.
3. Build relationships: Listen to others, understand their needs, and always deliver your best. Success often comes from the trust and connections you create along the way.”
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
“The most helpful people in my journey have undoubtedly been my family. My husband, Octavio, and my children, Nicole and Patrick, have been my greatest source of strength and encouragement. Octavio has always believed in my dreams and supported me wholeheartedly, even when starting a business seemed daunting.
My children inspire me daily with their excitement and joy, reminding me of why I started this journey—to create magical moments that bring families closer during the holidays. Their love and belief in me gave me the courage to face challenges, learn new skills, and grow into the person I am today.
Their support has taught me the value of resilience, trust, and passion. Without them, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to turn my love for Christmas into a thriving business that touches the lives of so many.”
