We recently connected with Andrew Lano II and have shared our conversation below.
Andrew, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
I learned it from the example set by my parents Andy & Arlene. Giving comes from the heart. My Mom always said if you consistently give it seems you get back twice in return.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I wear a few hats . I am a FedEx PHT…A package handler trainer, I teach & direct new hires on how to properly load trucks that go out for delivery… Golf consultant… 25 years as a Pga Tour caddie around the greatest golfers in the world… I advise on the game, etiquette rules, mental approach . President of the Lano Family Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the state of Maine.. In partnership with my two sisters and brother we raise funds through a golf tournament for a secondary education scholarship by way of a honoring my dad Andrew G Lano by awarding a $10,000 scholarship to the outstanding student- athlete at Portland high school in Portland, Maine…In our 11th year currently.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
work ethic, character, resiliency, and the ability to rise above the competition to be out outstanding.
My advice is to make a plan and execute that plan… Whatever you do… You must prepare and be persistent… Never give up…
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
They lead by example by setting high standards… honesty , integrity, and character… Taught me to never give up regardless of how things may look and to treat people the way you want to be treated.
