Hi Evita, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

As the founder of New York Swim Week, resilience is at the core of everything I do. Leading this brand requires staying mission-focused, no matter the challenges, and building a strong network of collaborators who share my vision. Adaptability is key in this ever-evolving industry, where every unexpected turn becomes an opportunity to innovate. I prioritize balance by managing stress through self-care and celebrating both small and significant wins, which keeps me motivated and grounded. Authenticity is essential to my personal brand, allowing me to connect deeply with my audience and transform challenges into valuable lessons. By continuously learning and embracing each experience as an opportunity for growth, I ensure that New York Swim Week thrives with creativity, determination, and grace.

In my spare time, I DJ, using music to create unforgettable moments and bring people together at my iconic events, which consistently sell out. This experience, along with my diverse talents and unwavering dedication to connecting with others, truly sets me apart in the fashion and entertainment industries.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey as the founder of New York Swim Week and an event director, three key traits have been most impactful: resilience, relationship-building, and creative adaptability. These qualities have shaped how I overcome challenges, foster meaningful connections, and bring bold ideas to life.

Resilience has been my foundation. Whether it was navigating last-minute event changes or building a brand from the ground up, staying focused on my vision and pushing through setbacks has been essential. My advice? Embrace challenges as part of the process. Stay grounded, set clear goals, and celebrate progress—big or small. Surround yourself with a strong support system that believes in your mission.

Relationship-building has been another game-changer. From collaborating with designers and sponsors to connecting with my audience, relationships have driven every success. To those starting out: Network authentically and intentionally. Be present, follow through on your promises, and approach every interaction with generosity and openness.

Finally, creative adaptability has allowed me to thrive in an ever-changing industry. Events and fashion require flexibility and the ability to innovate on the spot. My advice here? Step outside your comfort zone, learn to problem-solve under pressure, and always stay curious about emerging trends and tools. Challenges are opportunities to think differently and create something unforgettable.

For anyone starting their journey, focus on these traits through action and intention. Resilience, connection, and creativity are skills you build over time, and they’ll guide you toward success in any endeavor.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

As the founder of New York Swim Week, I’ve reached a point where I know what’s possible and where the brand can go, but I’m facing the challenge of taking it to the next level. My goal is to transform it into a luxury, exclusive event that attracts the elite, but I’m navigating how to infuse couture fashion and cultural influence in a way that creates an unforgettable, aspirational experience for my audience.

To tackle this, I’m focusing on a few key areas:

1. Curating a Luxurious Experience:
The event needs to exude sophistication at every touchpoint, from the venue selection to the ambiance and partnerships. I’m looking at hosting the event in more high-profile, exclusive locations and focusing on high-end touches like personalized invitations and premium experiences for attendees. I’ll also focus on the finer details that reflect exclusivity, such as champagne receptions, couture-inspired décor, and live performances.

2. Collaborating with Elite Designers and Artists:
I want to bring in designers whose work embodies the luxury and artistry I’m striving for. To create a deeper connection, I’m infusing cultural elements into the event, showcasing collections that tell a unique story. These designers will show rare, one-of-a-kind pieces that highlight the rarity and craftsmanship of couture fashion, which will help set the event apart from others in the industry.

3. Building a Targeted Audience with Elite Taste:
To make the brand more exclusive, I need to shift the focus of my audience to those who already embrace a high-end, luxury lifestyle. I’m working on creating an invite-only or membership-based model, ensuring the event draws the right crowd of influencers, celebrities, and thought leaders who can elevate the experience.

4. Telling the Story of Elite Fashion and Culture:
The brand’s narrative needs to connect with those seeking an aspirational lifestyle. I’m working on building a cohesive story around New York Swim Week, showcasing it as a gateway to a world of luxury, culture, and elegance. This will reflect in all marketing materials, and I plan to use high-end imagery to create a sense of exclusivity and aspiration.

5. Partnering with Luxury Brands and Sponsors:
Aligning with brands that reflect the luxury, elegance, and high-end nature of my event is crucial. I’m reaching out to potential partners in industries like high-end jewelry, champagne, luxury hotels, and top-tier fashion tech brands. The goal is to enhance the event’s prestige while offering attendees a taste of indulgence with curated swag bags and exclusive experiences.

6. Elevating the Event’s Atmosphere:
I want to create an immersive, unforgettable atmosphere for attendees. I’m exploring interactive elements like virtual reality couture shows or live art installations, and private VIP areas to encourage networking among industry leaders.

7. Leveraging PR and Media Strategically:
The next step is to generate buzz through carefully targeted PR strategies. I plan to focus on securing press from top fashion publications and media outlets, ensuring we capture the attention of those who fit within the elite and exclusive fashion space. Content campaigns after the event will also emphasize the luxury and exclusivity of the experience, sparking a sense of FOMO among those who couldn’t attend.

I know there’s work to be done, but by focusing on these areas, I’m confident I can take New York Swim Week to new heights and create a truly elite experience for the fashion world.
