Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nicole Zadok. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nicole, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
I think I am led by curiosity and the knowing that I don’t know.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have been putting my attention toward music for majority of my life and plan to till I become uninterested in it. I use art as a form of personal expression for my individual expansion. During 2020 when connection was limited, I decided to pivot to produce/ mix my own songs asking myself how could make music I would want to hear to cut the cost of making songs because as much as I love collaborating, music can cost a lot to make. In tandem with learning how to make my own music I have been finding my voice in promoting myself in the form of social media, growing my Tik Tok and Instagram. I’d say my music can lean indie singer songwriter and at times is expressed in electronic music as I was really influenced growing up with my dad’s love for house music. My music has been described as easy going, introspective, and most importantly to me conversational which I think pairs well with my personality. My latest single I put out October 2024 was produced and mixed by me is called “Lost With You” check it out if you want to hear sonically where I am heading. I have some new songs next on deck being released early 2025 so check my socials for updates on that more than just music I want to focus on building and connecting community.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
What I found most impactful for me was integrity, perseverance, and growth. Integrity is important because I am lead by my truth and not willing to compromise myself in my pursuit in music. Perseverance is necessary because a career in the arts isn’t a straight line, all waves recede in order to move forward and failure is only real when you don’t choose to get back up. Grown is important as change is constant so why not choose to improve when you can. My best advice is to hear people, but don’t listen to anyone don’t even listen to me. If a path can be traced that means it was someone else’s and don’t be an afraid to make mistakes actually go out and make mistakes so you can learn from them.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
My parents let me follow my curiosity and believed in my efforts/ potential. They listened when industry professionals and mentor told them that I was onto something so I could continue to grow. They both had divergent paths and they made sure growing I would never choose to settle.
