Meet Emma Pineda Fortin

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Emma Pineda Fortin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Emma, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

My relationship with purpose has ebbed and flowed. I come from generations of women that have worked hard to survive and am the first generation to have the opportunity to even contemplate this question. So, with that huge weight on my shoulders, I set out to find my one true purpose. For decades, I felt lost, simply following the next step on the plan set out by my culture and society at large. Until there came a point when the author, Elizabeth Gilbert, gifted me the question – what if my purpose in life is as simple as living? If there is no “one purpose” I am free to live and experience in ways that are easeful and joyful. I truly believe that my purpose is to play and experience myself and this earth.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a Latina mother with a PhD, former management consultant and COO of an e-commerce startup. I’ve changed careers frequently looking for the intersection of what I love, what the world needs, and what I am good at. In my journey, I found the support I needed along the way. Now, I support others on their journey to own their wholeness, beauty, and courage in their careers and lives.

As a somatic coach, I specialize in working with multicultural leaders and entrepreneurs, both one-on-one and in group settings. I trained at InviteChange and the Somatic Wilderness Institute and hold an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential from the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

I bring my lived experience as a queer person of color, executive, scientist, and yoga teacher into my work. Using somatic tools, I help clients connect their minds, bodies, and hearts, serving as a bridge between intellectual, analytical thinking and creative, empathic, and sensory awareness. Through this process, I inspire the courage to redefine beliefs based on an internal compass, fostering greater clarity, creativity, and compassion in their lives and work.

I am excited to share the launch of my new course: Courageous Conversations. In this course, I will step you through how to identify your needs, connect with your courage, and share what is true for you so that you can be one step closer to receiving exactly what you want.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three skills I am developing that have been the most impactful in my journey are: clear and kind communication, self compassion, and understanding that there are many ways to be. These skills are ongoing practices for me, what I have to share about them is that the most impactful skills for you, you will learn on your own. Mine are these, you will discover yours on your own path.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is someone who is interested in understanding themselves and their relationship with the world. They have been engaged in self-discovery through therapy, art, community – and are looking for personalized support in understanding themselves, their strengths, and their role in this world. In their past, they may have relied on their intelligence and persistence as their top skills and are ready to explore what else is possible for them, once they start to trust themselves. I work well with people that are open to new ideas, to being challenged, and to adventure.
