We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Robert Manni. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Robert below.
Robert, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Following years of reading, meditating, and self-reflection I discovered that my “purpose’ has evolved over time. When I was was growing up, my purpose was to learn, grow, play, and enjoy life. In my teens and early twenties my focus was on formal education while learning to let loose and experience the joys of indulging in life. Throughout my twenties and thirties I continued to determine how I wanted to live my life and make a living. In my thirties and forties I focused on my career and building a sustainable future. Running three marathons, becoming a Reiki Master Teacher and an Advanced Clinical Hypnotist, traveling the world for business, and writing a novel all helped me determine what is, and what is not important in life. When I turned fifty I realized my true purpose was to live in the present and do things that helped raise my vibration. I’ve continued along this path until today. Now my focus is on my family, health, spiritual growth and longevity.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Following a successful career in advertising on Madison Avenue, I wrote THE GUYS’ GUY’S GUIDE TO LOVE, a novel heralded as, “the men’s successor to ‘Sex and the City’” and a top-rated blog at robertmanni.com. I followed by my producing a weekly podcast, Guy’s Guy Radio, which blossomed into a twice-weekly prime time radio show on KCAA So Cal (106.5FM, 1050AM) where I interview entertainment personalities, NY Times best-selling authors, renowned spiritual teachers, plus experts in diet and wellness, sports, business, and more. My guests and I introduce everyday people to new ideas and modalities to help improve their lives. It all comes together through my authenticity, Guy’s Guy filter, and unique take on today’s culture and issues.
Guy’s Guy Radio features in-depth conversations and a pre and post-interview analysis about my guests and their insights. Video of these interviews post on Guy’s Guy TV, my YouTube and Rumble channels. Guy’s Guy Radio has recently been added to UK Health Radio, the world’s largest talk-health station four times per week. I am currently writing a monthly series, “Aging is a Choice” for UK Health Radio’s, Health Triangle Magazine. I also create and produce videos and content across social media and as a guest on popular shows and podcasts, all with a goal of helping people live their best lives.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
For me, persistence, curiosity, and authenticity are the core characteristics that have spurred my personal growth. I believe the cultivation of these attributes can serve people along their path at any age. Life can be filled with challenges and obstacles, and it is often easy to simply give up or change course. Persistence helps build character in the face of adversity.
Without curiosity, learning new skills can become drudgery. As part of my artistic endeavors, like hosting a radio show and interviewing over 750 thought leaders, if I was not curious about my guests, asking probing questions would be a task.
Most importantly, I’ve learned the importance of being yourself. This does not give you a blank check to do whatever you want. It means cultivating an identity built upon integrity, honesty, and reliability. Sounds boring? It’s not. These are the traits of the people we learn to respect and cherish throughout life, whether they are valued friends, family or colleagues.
The key to developing these qualities is by being mindful and present all day, every day. It requires self-discipline and a desire for personal growth.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I was fortunate to have been raised by loving parents who allowed me to choose my path while supporting my decisions after I made up my mind. Like most of us, I made a few questionable choices along the way. Fortunately, my parents always had my back, and for that I am eternally grateful. They also instilled the values that I carry with me until this day. Respect yourself, choose work that you enjoy, treat others with respect, and don’t judge others based on money. Health and family are our greatest gifts. Be respectful, have fun, enjoy life. and don’t take anything, including yourself, too seriously.
