Meet Chontelle Sewett

We recently connected with Chontelle Sewett and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Chontelle , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from my desire to consistently be the best and excel at everything I do. Growing up participating in the martial arts, I was extremely competitive and I learned the value of fierce discipline and determination at an early stage. The values instilled in me through competitive sports in my formative years have stuck with me throughout my entire life and in so many ways martial arts is a microcosm of life and the world we live. In martial arts, you get knocked down LITERALLY and you have to get back up. Life is no different metaphorically so I would ascribe most of my resilience to that sport.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three most impactful qualities I adopted on the journey to success are taking risks, doing what you love and believing in yourself and though they might sound like simplistic assertions to live by , it really works.

Takings risks is important because nothing amazing ever happens in your comfort zone. I have lived in many parts of the world and in cultures that forced me to adjust my world view but I acknowledged that changing my location doesn’t change the impact I have in a space. Everywhere I go , I make connections easily because I am authentically myself irrespective of geographic location and that freedom guides my ability to take risks.

Doing what you love is important not because it makes anything on this journey easier but only because it will give you the bandwidth to withstand the difficult days when they do come because they will come!

Finally, believing in your self is mandatory simply because the world is a cold and ruthless place. If you don’t truly have the assurance in your heart that you are doing what your suppose to be doing , then it will all dissipate pretty easily the moment you are faced with your first real challenges.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

My parents unquestionably taught me the value of sacrifice. They both came from humble beginnings and they worked assiduously to ensure everything they never had, was provided to me and my sister. One of my core motivations to succeed, is to be able to reciprocate the sacrifices that they made for me and so far I am proud to have made them proud with my work as an entrepreneur and cereal creative.
