Meet Dawon Jones

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dawon Jones. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Dawon, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

It started when I had a family member start a similar business in my late teens. I just graduated from high school in June and I was waiting to go off to boot camp for the Marines that October. My family member asked me if I would like to help him out for the summer until I left. I wasn’t going to be doing much until that time so I agreed to help. When he started his business he had contracts and agreements lined up with certain companies as well as some personal relationships he had with friends and co-workers. Through the process I began to realize that I really enjoyed what I was doing. There were times he would even leave me there to do the work and have me in charge because of my eye for doing the assignments. After leaving home and joining the military I was able to obtain my own car and the obsession with detailing grew even more. Spending hours upon hours cleaning my own car. It was the one hobby that I would always come back to. It was the hobby that I could truly lose myself in doing. Fast forward years later is when I was let go at a job is when I knew I had to take this passion and obsession of mine and begin to create my own business. I felt like it was time jump out there make a mark for myself. It started as a summer gig to pass the time and the bug bite me as the saying goes and its been on going ever since.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Bringing the convenience of automotive detailing to our customers is absolutely awesome. What I love most about it is that the way our society has gone in the direction of having services brought to your door step. People tell me all the time about how they love the fact that they don’t have to leave home or their place of business to get their vehicles cleaned. We show up to our customers in our self contained detailing work vehicle and begin to work there on the spot. There are so many people who are extremely busy with their everyday lives that they don’t have to the time to sit and wait. It’s one of the main reasons why I started this business is to give people the convenience of not having to travel, drop off and wait. We Drop By Mobile Detailing prides itself off of convenience and customer service. people want someone who can thoroughly communicate with them about what ever type of services they will need to clean their vehicles. The brand will always be about stand up service, great customer service and being available to provide great detailing services.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Communication and being very relatable to others has really been my strong qualities. It doesn’t matter what your business is about if you aren’t knowledgeable in the area of the business that you are in you will have a hard time explaining it to others. Being able to explain what your business is and how it can solve the need of the customer is very important going forward. The best advice that I would give someone starting in their journey is this, what ever business that you will begin, understand what customers needs are and focus on the ones in need of that. I’ve learned in business that you don’t have to sell to everyone, not everyone needs or wants what you have to offer. You have to find those who need and want your product or service and provide them the best of what your business has to offer.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Definitely would like to have like minded people who can understand the vision of where the business is going and where I would like to see It succeed. Those who could see a mutual partnership where we both could work together to be creative and innovative.
