Meet Donnrockstarr Johnson

We were lucky to catch up with Donnrockstarr Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have DonnRockStarr with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I got my work ethic from my grandmother Mildred. She retired from Caterpillar After 25 Years. She raised me from the age of 2 when my parents weren’t able to do so. She did this despite already having a full house.

My name is Donnica Johnson. I am an artist from Rock Island, Illinois.

My current focus is letting the world know about my unique journey through my novel/movie. I am the writer, director, and actor in

Unapologetic- the life of a Black Transgender woman.

Unapologetic is based on my life growing up in the ghetto area of Illinois and Iowa border affectionately known as the Quad Cities. My story discusses sexual abuse, alcoholism, prostitution, crime and the escape from all of it.

No stone is left unturned. I address my rape at the hands of a family member at the age of 12. Living with alcoholic/drug addicted parents as a child with 11 siblings. My older brothers prison incarceration and how it led to my younger brother becoming a ward of the state of Illinois.

I tackle my own problems with alcohol, life as a teenage prostitute, my many run ins with law enforcement and much more. The readers will learn how I changed things around .my positive energy has created a happy life for me and the catalyst for how I’m currently living. The project is still taking on investors and plans are in the works to drop in summer 2025 are underway.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities that were most impactful on my journey we’re
#1-The importance of setting daily goals was the catalyst of any success I’ve had in life
#2-Willing To Fail & my fearlessness to never quit I realized everything I wanted was on the other side of hard.
#3-Today is the culmination of all my yesterdays. I am determined to stack positive days of top of each other every single day.
The advice I have for folks early in their journey is stay positive at all times ,even in your darkest hours

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I feel we are all connected whatever your race ,gender or sexual preference is won’t define how valuable you are to the collective. I am looking to partner with people who have positive energy, a tireless work ethic & a hunger to succeed.
