Meet Jason Doyle

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jason Doyle. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jason below.

Jason, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes from the city I grew up in. New York is a fast paced, highly competitive environment. You can never take your foot off the gas or you’ll end up at the end of the line. I never want to be there. New York has taught me how to never give up because there will always be an opportunity. No matter what happens in one instance, I’ve learned there is always another instance for your success. You just need to reach for it, push for it, and if it falls through, take what you learned and do it all over again.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a young actor from Brooklyn, New York. Currently residing in Los Angeles and attending the American Musical and Dramatic Academy as an Acting for Camera major. I’ve had a love for acting since the fifth grade. Ever since I did my first elementary school show, I never looked back. I was in my High School’s Theater Department and currently enrolled in a college for the arts, it’s what I truly love. Telling stories, sharing experiences, being a vessel that someone can see and relate with or learn from. I’ve always had a fascination for film and television, watching actors disappear into their roles and create something that made you reflect your life and your experiences. Writers and directors creating stories that have gotten me and plenty of others through really rough times in our lives. We look to art as an escape and while that is true, we also have so much to learn from art. It gives us drive and motivation. Keeps us excited to create and learn. I owe my life to the arts.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think the three most impactful qualities for me are my resilience, dedication and willingness to be open. Again, being from New York provides resilience since birth. Then, going into the field I want to spend the rest of my life apart of, resilience is not an option. Actors have to be resilient, whether it’s because of the depth of a role or missing out on a role, we always have to keep up with our health and keep ourselves mentally healthy. My dedication comes from the love of the art. It’s what I’ve wanted to do since I was a child and nothing to stop me from making a career out of this. I’ve had my fair share of slack and laziness but I always come out of it through the love I remind myself is always there. Being open is also not an option in this field. You have to open minded, whether it’s the role you’re playing or the story you’re telling, if you’re closed off your story won’t be honest, your performance won’t have depth. Being open allows us to be exposed to more stories and experiences that will benefit our way of life in the long run.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

A challenge I’m facing is a change of scenery. I went from spending 19 years in New York and never actually leaving the time zone, to moving all the way across the country. Currently living in Los Angeles and anyone who has spent time in both cities knows how vastly different they are. New York will always be home, but I know LA was somewhere I needed to be at some point. So when I found a school that has a campus in both cities, I knew it would be beneficial for me. However, it’s difficult making the change. Exciting, but difficult. It’s a totally different lifestyle and the people are much different personality wise. But meeting new people with all different experiences is necessary, being open to change and new ways of life is what I’ve wanted my whole life. So it’s something I’m adjusting to and I know it will be a good experience for me, especially with what I want to do for the rest of my life.
