Meet Jack Witt

We recently connected with Jack Witt and have shared our conversation below.

Jack, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

I grew up in a lower middle-class family with 2 brothers and a sister and looking back now I’d say the seeds of optimism were there from the start as a kid. I had a vivid imagination and was always involved in creative types of things. But it wasn’t really until I was 30 or so that I made the conscious choice to try to exist above negativity and fear and to strive to live a meaningful and purposeful life. I decided I wasn’t going to just go through the motions in life, I was going to really try to make a difference and be my best self every day and to make time to help others. All that said, I’ve fallen off the “optimism horse” a few times in my life, but it’s my close friends and family who always remind me who I am and so then I get back up and dust myself off and ride that optimism again.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

It’s been almost 20 years now I’ve been a professional health and fitness coach in Los Angeles with an emphasis on 50+ people. With a master’s degree in exercise science and lots of hands-on experience, everyday is an opportunity to help mature people harness their health and well-being and improve and extend their quality of life. I’m currently working on a program to help combat lonliness, which is on the rise in the USA.

For the past 10 years I’ve been hosting amazing hand-crafted active tours around the globe for my clients, friends, and the community. I just love scouting out locations, interviewing local guides, and then bringing groups for cultural immersion, world heritage sightseeing, nature walks and day-hikes, and of course tasting local foods and drinks in whatever country we’re in. Most importantly, I believe travel and tourism can promote peace and understanding in our world.

Next up is a Swiss Alps Hiking Adventure in August 2025 and a Discover Portugal Tour in October 2025.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I’d say discipline, determination, and not taking yourself too seriously.

If you’re just starting off on your journey of passion and purpose, don’t forget who you are and where you come from; otherwise, you’ll start to take yourself too seriously and that’s when negative energy starts seeping in.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Combining what I do for health & fitness coaching and active travel guiding, I’d love to collaborate with people that share the same interests and want to tell their stories to the world.
