We were lucky to catch up with Mike Kelleher recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I did not find my purpose. My purpose found me. It was never my intent to do what I am doing now. I saw a need at a former practice is was working with. Our patients were going elsewhere for injectable services. I know that no one else can treat our patients better than we can, so I decided to give injectables a try. If I was good at it and liked it, that’s great, if not then that would be ok as well. Just so happens I fell in love with this subspecialty, was good at it and became exceedingly passionate about it. That was 10 years ago. It has since become my focus, passion, and devotion.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I struck out on my own in 2018, not because I wanted to, but because I had to. There was not a place in existence that embodied me and how I felt about what I do and how it can be done. I opened (R)Evolution in Decatur, GA July 5, 2021. (R)Evolution is me. The perfect marriage of superior results, outstanding patient care, and innovation. Every treatment and experience is individualized to each patient. (R)Evolution prides itself on keeping up with the latest, best, safest aesthetic procedures and treatments available.
(R)Evolution was the first to add LifeViz 3D imaging which allows us to visualize every aspect of the face and take treatment planning and implementation to an entirely new level.
We are the first practice in GA to offer EndoLift, which is a nonsurgical nonablative laser platform. With EndoLift we can not only tighten tissue, all over the body, but we can dissolve fat as well. One and done treatment with very little downtime. EndoLift also allows us to treat complaints such as under eye bags, that I would have previously only been able to resolve with surgical options.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Resilience, curiosity, and dedication. One has to be resilient enough to learn and move on from the lows, but not get to ahead of themselves with the highs.
Curiosity has allowed me to learn from everyone and everything over this crazy journey.
You have to be dedicated enough to get up every day and throw yourself 100% into what you do.
For those who are beginning their journey, believe in yourself and what you are doing. Trust the process, and if this is coming from the heart, then it cannot fail.
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
The challenge I am facing now, is a challenge I hadn’t planned on this early on. Believe me I am not complaining at all. My current challenge is finding more hours in the day to see more patients. We are currently booked months out, so I either need to find that perfect business partner or clone myself, and no one wants that.
