Meet Brandon Clevenger

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brandon Clevenger a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Brandon, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I never really knew where I belonged..fit in or my purpose..even as a child..I eventually used drugs and partying to create an identity that I felt would give me a place to fit it in..I still didn’t know my purpose..until I became a father..then I knew..I wanted to lead a family/household..be a good parent husband employee leader..but I struggled with addiction..then I found narcotics anonymous and found a new way to live and achieve these dreams..I know not only have my 2 sons full time..I’ve grown in my career and am a regional supervisor..found the love of my life..good coping skills..and am an actual productive member of society..I am 10 years clean..I also sponsor other men in the program and take meetings to the jail..I have a very fulfilling life and love who I see in the mirror..life is good

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

The biggest thing I am pushing at the moment would be my music. I am in a duo group called sized up. We recently got 2nd place in the best of Lawrence local band category. We do lots of live shows and live to entertain and make people smile and life leaving their struggles stress and life issues at the door..everyone need a break from life and to enjoy a good time.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Honesty open mindedness and willingness.
Be honest with yourself..be open to learn and grow..and be willing to try new things and put in the work.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

Pray meditate and find something to do or somewhere you can go to decompress and experience serenity..continue to do self help and use spiritual principles such as gratitude and acceptance to combat the negative impacts life can throw at you. We are spiritual beings having a human experience
