We were lucky to catch up with Crystal Willis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Crystal, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.
My ability to take risks was born out of necessity but grew through intentional self-discovery and a deep desire for an expansive life. One of my first defining leaps was leaving my Fortune 500 corporate job. I had no parachute—just a small 401(k) and the incredible privilege of a safe place to land with friends and family. It wasn’t easy, but I learned to bet on myself and lean into discomfort, trusting that clarity and courage would come with action.
Another pivotal risk was walking away from my marriage. All I’d ever wanted was the dream of a family, but I came to realize that I had to prioritize my growth and mental health. Staying would have meant sacrificing my self-worth, and I needed to rediscover who I was outside of a relationship. Leaving wasn’t just a risk; it was an act of self-love, and it taught me that sometimes the hardest decisions lead to the most profound transformations.
Each of these moments—the corporate leap, the personal leap—were acts of defiance against fear. They taught me that being uncomfortable is the cost of growth. Every challenge—whether overcoming trauma, starting over after divorce, or rebuilding my life from housing insecurity—reinforced a critical truth: fear doesn’t mean stop; it means go.
For anyone feeling stuck, I’d say this: comfort is the enemy of expansion. When we get too comfortable, we stop dreaming, stop risking, and stop growing. If we want a truly fulfilling, purpose-driven life, we have to challenge ourselves to take those leaps, even when the ground feels uncertain. The secret is knowing that you are your safety net. You don’t need perfect conditions; you need belief in yourself and a willingness to figure it out along the way.
Through every risk I’ve taken—whether in corporate America, Hollywood, or now as a serial entrepreneur—I’ve come to realize that risks aren’t about recklessness; they’re about trust. Trusting that you are resourceful, resilient, and capable of navigating whatever comes next.
If you’re hesitating on taking your next leap, ask yourself: What am I more afraid of—failing or staying the same? Because staying the same is the biggest risk of all.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Thank you for the opportunity to share my story! At my core, I’m passionate about personal reinvention, storytelling, and empowering others to break through their limitations to create lives and legacies they’re proud of.
Through my boutique consulting agency, The Omni Firm, I work with corporations, nonprofits, talent, and creative entrepreneurs to craft compelling brand narratives and integrated marketing strategies. Whether it’s helping a leader own their story or positioning a brand to make a powerful cultural impact, my work is all about transformation.
But my journey isn’t just about business—it’s deeply personal. After navigating significant trauma, rebuilding my life from the ground up, and leaving the corporate and entertainment industries to pursue my own path, I’ve committed myself to helping others unlock their potential. That’s why I’m thrilled to introduce Her Limitless Legacy, my upcoming coaching and personal and business development training programs. These programs are designed to guide women and purpose-driven leaders through their own reinvention journeys, equipping them with the tools to create sustainable success, heal from the past, and embrace their full power.
In addition to my coaching work, I’m re-launching The Crysalis, my podcast dedicated to personal reinvention and navigating success after trauma. It’s a space where I’ll share my experiences, interview trailblazers, and provide actionable strategies for overcoming life’s challenges while building something extraordinary. Both Her Limitless Legacy and The Crysalis embody my commitment to helping others transform pain into power, create abundance, and live expansively.
What excites me most about my work is witnessing people step into their greatness. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone break through self-doubt, rewrite their story, and achieve goals they once thought were impossible.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, there are three key qualities and areas of growth that have been most impactful in my journey:
Cultivating Confidence and Commitment
Confidence isn’t something we’re born with—it’s something we build through consistent action and self-trust. For me, this came from learning to show up for myself, honoring my commitments even when things felt uncertain or uncomfortable. Confidence grew each time I took a leap of faith, whether leaving my corporate job or stepping away from relationships that no longer aligned with my purpose. My advice? Start small. Build trust with yourself by keeping promises, setting boundaries, and showing up in ways that align with your values. Over time, those small wins compound into unshakable self-belief.
Shifting to a Growth and Abundance Mindset
Letting go of a scarcity mindset has been life-changing. Early in my journey, I often operated from a place of fear—fear of failure, rejection, or lack. But shifting into a growth and abundance mindset taught me that setbacks are opportunities for learning and that there’s always enough room for me, my dreams, and my success. For those just starting, I recommend surrounding yourself with people who inspire and uplift you, reading books or listening to podcasts that challenge your current thinking, and practicing gratitude. Gratitude rewires your brain to notice what’s going right, which opens the door to greater possibilities.
Curiosity, Joy, and a Relationship with God
Staying curious and joyful about life has been my secret weapon. Curiosity fuels learning and reinvention, while joy keeps me grounded and connected to what truly matters. Most importantly, my relationship with God has been the foundation of my strength and growth. It’s given me the grace to forgive myself, the courage to keep going, and the guidance to walk in my purpose. My advice? Nurture your faith and make time for joy—even in the smallest things. Be curious about your challenges and see what they’re trying to teach you.
For anyone early in their journey, remember that self-growth is a lifelong process. Lean into the discomfort, trust the process, and know that you are capable of far more than you realize. Keep showing up, cultivating your mindset, and striving to become the best version of yourself. The best is yet to come!
