Meet Judy Sullivan

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Judy Sullivan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Judy below.

Judy , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

I learned early in life to be my authentic self. My parents and ancestors boosted my self esteem. They encouraged me to always be my best self whether in the mirror, around family and friends or in the boardroom. Growing up I was always encouraged to speak my “truth”. As an adult with my children I encouraged the same. When I decided to start my own business I did so based on my experience with self care, natural living and being honest about the journey

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am Judy Sullivan aka Nonny. I am currently the owner operator and CEO of Nonny’s Shea Butters LLC. I created Nonny’s Shea Butters in 2017 as a way to introduce others to the benefits of moisturizing their skin daily. The benefits of Shea Butters are amazing which is why I wanted all my family and friends to use it. I made my business official and have an e-commerce website where I can share my love for Shea Butters all over the world. I was introduced to Shea Butter in 1985?when my 3 year old son was diagnosed with eczema. I spoke with numerous Doctors who tried to prescribe medications for him. I finally met a woman from Ghana who introduced me to Raw Shea Butter. After 3 weeks his skin was healed and Shea Butter became our only skin moisturizer. When I retired in 2017 I took Nonny’s Shea Butters to the next level as a small business entrepreneur.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

When this journey started I developed a passion for my product, I saw a need for others to know about and I investigated all the information I could find about my product.
To those just starting out:
Be passionate about what you decide to do.
Investigate whether there is a need for your passion.
Do your research
Don’t go for the money at first go for relationships with those you want to sell your idea with.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

As a sole entrepreneur I am looking for collaborators who would assist me with funding in order to expand my business. I currently work out of a small space at home and I am in need of upgrading my space as well as hiring at least two people to assist in packages, going to events and keeping up social media.
