We were lucky to catch up with Bonnieruth Rolf recently and have shared our conversation below.
BonnieRuth , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Purpose is a word I believe holds much depth to it. it is not one dimensional. I do not have the belief that we only have one purpose. I find this to be true within my own story. After 19 years of infertility, 3 miscarriages, chronic health issues, a hysterectomy at 40, I was not going to be a mom. It is one aspect of my desires and what I felt was part of my purpose. Imagine being faced with the decision to have to choose to let go of part of your dreams and then feeling left feeling forced to rediscover. I had wanted to birth my own children since I was young, did I ever believe this was my only purpose no, but I did want it to be a big part of it. What I have come to discover is that birthing my own children wasn’t the purpose, it was legacy….I want to build, create, and leave a beautiful legacy. My journey of loss and pain has helped me see, is that purpose lived out can look very different than we thought, it can require pivots or letting go of expectations but if we surrender to the process and the journey it will pave a legacy worth leaving. I have found purpose in helping couples who are facing a similar journey as mine of infertility, miscarriage, baby loss or childlessness not by choice; to define their legacy, to step forward together in hope no matter the barren places in their lives. Purpose for me is choosing to live to the fullest in spite of what is not and by helping equip others to thrive and not just survive their own story.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My Husband Jason and I founded a non-profit Legacy Place in 2022; We serve Couples Navigating the difficulties of Infertility, Miscarriage, Baby Loss, Childlessness not by choice. Our heart is encouraging and equipping couples to live strong healthy marriages in spite of the deep pain this journey can inflict.
It was never our dream to do this, but from our own story and the lack of resources available, the inability to often find people who could relate we are passionate to never let another couple walk this devastating path alone or hopeless. Our pain became our purpose. It has defined for us the legacy we want to leave and that is; helping other couples like us have a place and space created from a sense of hope to define their legacy.
We purchased 48 acres of land in North Texas in a town called Bonham where we are breaking ground on a retreat center for these couples to have a place to come and process the hard decisions, to restore and rejuvenate.
We also offer resources for couples to keep their relationship healthy and strong in the midst of such traumatic and unforeseen circumstance. Everything we do is focused on providing something to help you each couple to the close the communication gaps, remove the sense of isolation and allow them to discover how to thrive together in the midst of great loss. Our greatest desire is to see every couple facing this unwanted, unplanned path to building their family, to step forward together in hope no matter the outcome.
These resources are:
-6 Part Video Series: This versatile resource can be experienced together as a couple, in a small group or even a church event
-Monthly Podcast-We interview other couples/individuals that are walking a similar path to both be inspired and reminded we are not alone.
– One Day Couples Events- This one day event solely focuses on creating a safe environment for you to address the difficulty you are facing in this unimaginable journey.
We hope to break ground on our Tiny Homes in 2025 as a destination place for couples to come to rest, reconnect, and refocus on defining their legacy.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Launching a non profit is not what I thought I would do with my life, but I think that I realized it starts with being willing to be vulnerable with your why. Do not just stragezie your why but be vulnerable with what lead you to the why. For us it was our infertility and miscarriages that carved out the path of this crazy idea to help others going through the same.
2. Never let yourself get bitter when what you dreamed or planned do not work out. That might take some counseling, a few screaming in your pillow sessions or letting go…. but it is worth it. If we get bitter it blocks us for the many opportunities that guide us to purpose in ever season of our lives. Again I do not believe purpose is one dimensional but I do believe bitterness will stop purpse. progress and success dead in its tracks. We can overcome what does not happen. we can heal from loss and we can acheive great things IF we keep our hearts from being bitter at what is not.
3. Then never stop growing, when we are growing we will keep taking the right risk and that leads to destiny.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I want to first connect with couples that has ever faced or is facing the difficult often indescribable journey of Infertility (of any kind) , miscarriage, baby loss or childlessness not by choice. I want to do all I can to encourage you, you are not alone. this is not your fault and their is joy even in the midst of loss and grief.
I also want to connect with infertility clinics, coaches, counselors.
I would LOVE to connect with social media experts, video photographers, videographers, that would help us create content that will inspire, encourage and help bring hope & resources to these couples.
