Meet Alexandra Duhl

We recently connected with Alexandra Duhl and have shared our conversation below.

Alexandra , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Our story of finding Travel as our Life Purpose & how we ended up helping other families travel:

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but in this case, I think it’s worth a lot more than that. Never in a million years did I think that I would be in Nicaragua, out on a boat in the middle of a volcanic lake, with a baby monkey crawling on top of my head. (To be honest, before that day, I don’t think I would have been able to pick out Nicaragua on a map.) Whenever my husband Nate and I look back at this picture, one phrase always repeats itself- “pure joy.” Travel had never really been something that was high on our my bucket list-until that very moment on the boat that changed everything. Wanderlust had hit. We decided to sell our house & start our adventures. We bought a tiny (746 sq. ft to be exact) house just down the street and the deal was done. Most of our friends & family probably thought we were pretty crazy to think that the house below would even be liveable-but after some blood, sweat & tears, we moved in, sold our other “forever” home, and the rest is history! We traveled to 20+ countries before having our son, Graham. When he entered the family, we knew we didn’t want to stop exploring. I made it my mission to help others travel as a family!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

When the new adventure of moving across the country to El Paso, TX (from Ohio) we knew we couldn’t pass it up. Since moving, we’ve fallen in love with the Southwest & I created El Paso Travel Family to help other families explore the Southwest from El Paso! I am on a mission to find the best things to do in the Southwest as a Family, providing kid-friendly activity ideas, hidden gems to visit, fun hiking spots, weekend getaway destinations & of course travel tips to help along the way.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My lust for adventure has definitely gotten us to where we are. I wanted to learn how to make our passion into something more. I also feel like I’m a very type-a, organized person and that helps when I’m creating itineraries & guides for those wanting to explore the Southwest! My best advice for those who are early in their journey is just to go for it! There will be bumps along the way, it will be hard, you will change directions, but it ends up where it should be! The saying really is true: It’s not about the destination but the journey!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I would love to collaborate with more businesses in the travel sector. We love partnering with hotels, DMOs, and local businesses in the Southwest to show all they have to offer for families! They can find us on Instagram “El Paso Travel Family” or email me: [email protected]
