Hi Nadia, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
I personally believe that proper communication is the foundation to success. Since I am part of the Sales industry, I often meet clients that are from all walks of life and ethnic backgrounds. The most important thing I can do is make them feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and needs with me. I do this by first being open and honest with my experiences and knowledge. I often share personal stories about my life and family in hopes of making a strong and lasting connection with them. I often find that people are genuinely intrigued by my story since it involves being raised in a foreign country, immigrating to the United States, owning a restaurant and rental property, getting married, raising children, and becoming an entrepreneur in the sale of real estate and insurance.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am licensed real estate agent in the state of Pennsylvania as well as a national life insurance agent. I am also working towards obtaining other licenses that will provide my clients a “one-stop-shop” for all their real estate and insurance needs. The most exciting part about being in these industries is that I get to help people understand what they need to know so they can make an informed decision on the products they need and will have for many many years. I take pride in being “that agent” who cares deeply about my clients security and peace of mind.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
High integrity, a passion for learning and self-confidence are three qualities that have been most impactful for me and my career. Having a high level of integrity has been important for me because it has helped me build trust with my clients. Having a passion for continuously learning new information has helped me because the facts in my industry evolve and change over time. Lastly, having confidence in myself to help people with some of the biggest decisions of their lives provides my clients with the feeling that the decisions they are making are the right ones for them.
For those starting their journey in sales, they can best develop these qualities by practicing them within their own relationships. I would advise them to read about something new until they feel like they can competently discuss it. Then I would suggest they try to teach that topic to a loved one. This will help them share facts of the topic with integrity, provide them with an exercise that will help them continuously learn and build their confidence about a topic they previously new nothing about.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The greatest challenge I face today is the competing priorities between my work and my family. Even though I am an entrepreneur, I am also a mother of two young children. Anyone with children knows that as a parent your time is your most limited resource. One of the ways I balance time with my children and my work is planning out my day. The early mornings are reserved for getting the kids ready for school. The middle of the day is for making new content, learning and following up with clients. The late afternoon and early evening is family time. The later evenings are again reserved for any client follow-ups as I have found that many of my clients enjoy that I work outside of normal business hours.
