Meet Jason M Palmer

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jason M Palmer. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jason M below.

Jason M, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

After surviving a disfiguring chainsaw accident at the tender age of ten that left me nearly lifeless, I had to grow up very quickly. Being bullied became a normal everyday occurrence from every walk of life. I was conditioned to give up my power and my voice which resulted in being ostracized from nearly every group activity. That would lead to a recluse lifestyle that I could never understand.

I learned very early on that my support system was my parents, however they had six children that required much of their attention. Generally speaking, they did the best they could. I began to despise people for the way that they treated me and never trusted anyone. My parents taught me how to work hard and if that didn’t work than work a little harder. I became a master at that. So I realized it was me against me and that nobody was coming to save me. Hard work and persistence gave me the confidence and self-esteem to succeed. The more you master a skillset will create more confidence and belief in yourself and that is all I had.

I found my refuge in horses because they did not ever judge me like humans. Those majestic animals saved my life. I started a professional jockey career at the early age of fourteen and I became extremely successful with my greatest counterparts. At the end of my ten year career I was able to ride the fastest horses in the world and ride with the greatest jockey’s and trainers in the world. Today my very best friends are owners that I rode for over thirty years ago.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I wrote and published a book in May of 2024, The “Finish Line” Discover the grit to live an empowered life. My mission with message in that book is to impact the globe. My vision is to leverage stages, networks and systems to efficiently get the message out. God created me for a greater purpose. He has blessed me with a plethora of challenges and adversities, but on the flip side of that he graced me with triumph and success over every single one. My purpose now is to pay it forward and help people create their own Finish Line’s and live the magical life God intended them for.

I have several horses in training to compete in the 2025 race and show season at the largest levels of play along with several students. Keep a look out for us. I am very excited to be the cause in the matter of each of their successes this year and years to come.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Work ethic.
Discipline.
Goal setting.

Set a goal so audacious and monstrously huge that it will be nearly impossible to accomplish. Discipline yourself to absolutely work your face off and watch yourself actualize on your goal.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

Val Brinkerhoff, early on, was the most important person that walked into my life five years into my race career. I threatened to quit every single day for five years and six months after being hired I started to become unstoppable. I started to win on nearly everything that I rode. My self image went through the roof and my confidence could not me disrupted. After retiring from being a jockey I was constantly searching for great mentors and found them while building my most valuable possession, my library. The greats; John Maxwell, Andy Andrews, John Wooden, Benjamin Franklin, Winston Churchill along with so many others. I sit down and learn from these incredible people about an hour each day. More if the search is not complete.
