Hi Erika, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

While attending nail school, I discovered my true purpose. Many clients came in seeking pedicures, but I often had to turn them away because they had underlying foot issues that required medical attention. I referred them to physicians, but time and time again, these clients would return to me without ever seeking the professional care they needed. It became clear to me that individuals with foot problems often turned to nail salons for help rather than visiting a medical professional. This realization ignited a spark in me to bridge the gap between beauty and healthcare. I became determined to combine the artistry of nail care with the medical expertise needed to address foot health issues. My goal was to create a comprehensive solution that catered specifically to these clients, ensuring they received the proper care they deserved in a setting where they felt comfortable and understood.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

What’s truly exciting about me is my passion for transforming foot care into something that goes beyond aesthetics—it’s about health, confidence, and empowerment. I opened NuFeet to elevate foot care standards and redefine what a pedicure could be. Through waterless, medical-grade pedicures, collaboration with physicians, and innovative products, we’re creating a new standard in the beauty industry. My excitement also comes from training others and equipping nail professionals with the tools and knowledge to make a difference. NuFeet isn’t just a brand; it’s a movement to empower others and make quality foot care accessible. Knowing that I’m helping to create healthier, happier lives for clients—and inspiring professionals to do the same—is what fuels my excitement every day.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three invaluable qualities I’ve embraced in building my business—and that I’d love to share—are all about focus, collaboration, and perseverance.

1. The Power of Writing Things Down and Following Through
There’s something transformative about putting your thoughts and goals on paper. It turns abstract ideas into tangible objectives. But the real magic happens when you take action and check those tasks off your list. This habit not only keeps you organized but also creates a sense of accomplishment that fuels your momentum. Writing things down keeps you accountable, helps you stay on track, and ensures no detail is overlooked, no matter how small.

2. Surrounding Yourself with People Smarter Than You
One of the smartest moves you can make in business is to acknowledge that you don’t know it all. Having a team or mentors who bring expertise, innovation, and a fresh perspective is invaluable. These people challenge you to grow, push boundaries, and approach problems with new strategies. Collaboration with individuals who excel in areas where you may not is a game-changer and a constant reminder that growth thrives on learning from others.

3. Mastering Your Craft Through Consistent Hard Work
In a world full of distractions, it’s essential to keep your head down and focus on mastering your craft. True success doesn’t happen overnight—it’s the result of consistent effort, learning, and refining your skills. Stay committed to the process, even when it’s tough, and resist the urge to compare your journey to others. By dedicating yourself to excellence, you set the foundation for long-term success and become an expert in your field.

These three qualities—organization, collaboration, and perseverance—are the cornerstones of my business philosophy and have been instrumental in my growth and success.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

As a business owner, feeling overwhelmed has almost become a normal part of the journey. It often creeps in when my to-do list has grown too long, and I haven’t been making progress by checking things off. This feeling serves as a wake-up call—a reminder that I need to pause, refocus, and take control of the situation.

When overwhelm sets in, I take time to regroup. I find a quiet space where I can clear my mind and gather my thoughts. With a pen and paper in hand, I start consolidating all my scattered notes, ideas, and tasks into one organized list. This process helps me gain clarity and identify what truly needs my attention. Then, I shift my focus to execution. I tackle one task at a time, and with each item I check off, the weight on my shoulders becomes lighter. The more progress I make, the more relief I feel, as if I’m reclaiming control over my time and energy.

I’ve come to realize that feeling overwhelmed is often a symptom of past procrastination or lack of discipline. It’s a sign that I’ve allowed tasks to pile up instead of addressing them promptly. However, rather than letting it consume me, I’ve learned to see overwhelm as an opportunity—a chance to reset, prioritize, and move forward with renewed determination. It’s not just a challenge; it’s a reminder of the importance of staying consistent and proactive in my daily work.
