Meet Ashley Cosselman

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ashley Cosselman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Ashley with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I think growing up I was always shown that working hard would help you get you where you wanted to go. I lived a very comfortable life in a loving family and I knew that was something I wanted for my future and someday to raise my own children in that same type of atmosphere.
I was always driven to work hard, and get the task at hand done. I can remember from a young age self play cultivating some of the tendencies & traits I still use to this day. That eventually grew into a desire to lead or be successful at what I was doing. I realized pretty early on that sports weren’t my thing & gave me a sense of failure, which was difficult for me to digest. So I had to structure those feelings and focus on something that was productive, which at the time happened to be my jobs or my affiliations with volunteer work. Being a leader, or some would say a Boss, was exciting and rewarding for me. It gave me motivation to do more, be better & succeed!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My drive to help others has always been at the forefront. Whether thats in a leadership role, teaching role, volunteerism, community involvement etc. So naturally helping clients Buy & Sell Homes & Properties allows me an intimate opportunity to guide them. through the process. Most of the time it is a happy, exciting milestone of their lives – a moment that is going to enhance their life in many ways, but other times it’s a sale not by choice but instead by necessity. All of those can be tough things to navigate, whether good or bad, but helping my clients through that is what I love most.

My passion to help doesn’t necessarily end there. I find volunteering on local or professional boards as a huge cup filler. What better way to enhance my own life & self, then to help those around me. When those around me are succeeding & I can have a hand in helping that happen by my volunteerism, it certainly gives me great pride.

I try to bring new & innovative ideas to both my career and the volunteering I do. I am a chronic learner. So learning something new is a huge accomplishment for me. So bringing those new ideas, thoughts, conversations into these areas allows me to be hands on & help grow whatever it is I am working on!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

As silly as this may sound I truly feel Self Play & Allowing children to use their creative minds is where it all begins. So much of who we are & will be is developed in our very young years. It doesn’t define who we are – but it can certainly help provide us the tools on who we can become

From there I think finding what motivates you – what you are passionate about. Sometimes it is right in front of your face & other time it’s not. Continue to try new things & give yourself new avenues until you find what sparks that passion & self motivation.

Lastly, taking what we feel as failure & using that to learn & motivate us. Give yourself a chance to feel the less than emotion – but don’t pity yourself. Use that as a force to grow so you don’t have to experience that again. Even though it will likely happen again, the more you train yourself to turn failure into success – the more successful you will be. Those failures then won’t bee looked about as that, they will be stepping stones to have gotten you to the successful place you are at!

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?

I am 100% here for perspective & diversity! So much of our life revolves around perspective. The more you can diversify yourself in multiple areas, professionally, mentally, socially. educationally etc the more hurdles you will be able to overcome & the more connections you will be able to make. I am not necessarily saying you should be ‘okay at 100 things’ instead of ‘really great at 1”. – I do think you also need to define your focus. You can have a main focus and strength, yet dabble in connecting areas to diversify yourself. To keep doors & options open & allow yourself to naturally go where the path may lead!
