Meet Brenda Gonzalez

We recently connected with Brenda Gonzalez and have shared our conversation below.

Brenda, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.

Burnout is something I’ve had to navigate carefully, especially as a single mother and entrepreneur juggling multiple responsibilities. I’ve learned to prioritize taking breaks, even when it feels inconvenient or like it might set me back. Those moments of rest are non-negotiable—they’re what recharge me so I can show up fully for my clients, my kids, and my business.

Self-care is another key part of how I avoid burnout. I make space for things that restore my energy and joy. From bubble baths, to allowing myself to do nothing and watch TV for hours, I embrace that I’m not going to be productive every moment, or even everyday.

I’ve embraced imperfection. When I’m figuring things out, I remind myself that it doesn’t have to be perfect—I just need to move forward. As long as I can look back at my week and see I’ve accomplished things—big or small— I’m golden.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m an Image Consultant, Personal Stylist, and the Founder of Styled By B, where I specialize in empowering Executives and Entrepreneurs to step into their power with style. My work combines image consulting, personal branding, and confidence-building style to help clients align their outward image with their inner goals. What excites me most is witnessing the transformations. Witnessing my clients showing new confidence, shedding limited self-beliefs, and seeing themselves in a new light is the ultimate reward.

What sets my brand apart is my focus on authentic style that makes you feel powerful. I tailor each experience to meet my clients’ unique needs, from capsule collections and closet cleanses to style coaching and event preparation. My partnership with Nordstrom allows me to deliver exclusive VIP experiences, including private fittings and curated wardrobes.

Currently, I’m focusing on expanding my reach through workshops on style psychology and career readiness for schools and corporate professionals. I’m also developing a fashion app to make personalized styling more accessible.

Whether I’m styling high-profile professionals, teaching students how to dress for success, or creating solutions for Professionals with everyday wardrobe challenges, my goal is always to help people feel like the best version of themselves. Keep an eye out for upcoming collaborations and events—I’m always excited to share new ways to make an impact through style.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. Adaptability
Being adaptable has been essential in navigating the twists and turns of entrepreneurship, motherhood, and personal growth. Things rarely go as planned, but staying flexible and open to change has allowed me to overcome challenges and seize unexpected opportunities. My advice: embrace the mindset that every setback is a setup for something greater. Stay curious, keep learning, and be willing to pivot when needed.

2. Confidence
Confidence—both in myself and my abilities—has been a game-changer. It’s not something I always had, but I’ve built it by stepping outside of my comfort zone and proving to myself that I’m capable. For those early in their journey, focus on small wins to build momentum. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and push you to grow. Confidence comes from action, not perfection.

3. Communication
Clear and effective communication has been crucial in building relationships with clients, collaborators, and my team. It’s about more than talking—it’s listening, understanding, and aligning with others. My advice: invest in developing your emotional intelligence. Practice active listening, learn how to share your ideas with clarity, and always strive to connect authentically with others. Strong communication skills can open doors you didn’t even know existed.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who plays it safe with their style, hates shopping, and recognizes they need a change. They’re often public figures—leaders who spend their time on stages, in high-stakes meetings, or representing their brand in front of influential people. They want to dress better and push boundaries but lack the creativity to do so in a way that’s age-appropriate, industry-appropriate, and authentically them.

What makes them ideal is their willingness to invest in a professional stylist to take this off their plate entirely. They trust my expertise to get them looking and feeling like a boss—no questions asked—so they can focus on what they do best while their image speaks for itself. My goal is to help them show up with confidence, presence, and a style that reflects their power and influence.
