Meet Tracy Campbell

We recently connected with Tracy Campbell and have shared our conversation below.

Tracy, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Although I have a day job as a clinical research coordinator that I love, my true purpose and passion is practicing Reiki and teaching others how to work with Universal Life Force Energy. How did I find that purpose? A psychic told me to do it—yeah, for real—a psychic!

Several years ago, my coworker Jamie and I visited a metaphysical shop to get readings, just for fun. We weren’t looking for any serious guidance. During my session, the psychic, Mary, asked if I’d ever had Reiki done. My answer: “Nope, I’ve never heard of it.” Mary suggested I research it and get a session, adding that I had been a great healer in the past and would be one again.

Out of curiosity, I looked up Reiki online. My first thought was, “Well, that sounds like a crock of shit!” I couldn’t wrap my head around energy work. However, Mary had strongly urged me to give it a try. The next day, Jamie and I were chatting about our readings. When I mentioned Reiki and my nervousness about being scammed, she told me about Mala, a former coworker who practiced Reiki. Although I didn’t know Mala well, I felt comfortable reaching out to her.

Coincidentally—or maybe not—I had recently discovered we went to the same gym. I decided, “The next time I see Mala at the gym, I’ll ask her about Reiki.” Two days later, I ran into her. Mala explained Reiki in a way that made sense to me, and I scheduled a session with her. That first session changed my life.

Mala identified pain points in my body and personal struggles that she shouldn’t have known about. I was fascinated by how she could sense “stuck energy” in specific chakras. What really hooked me, though, was the best night of sleep I’d ever had afterward. My brain finally felt calm—a rarity for me.

Fast-forward about a year. I had moved across town, Mala had just had a baby, and we couldn’t coordinate schedules for more sessions. I started searching for a Reiki practitioner closer to me. One Sunday, while leaving the same metaphysical shop where I’d met Mary, I walked past a yoga studio hosting a Spirit Fair. The owner invited me in, mentioning an amazing palm reader, Pat.

During my palm reading with Pat, she brought up Reiki. I explained my situation, and she introduced me to Nicole, a Reiki practitioner at the studio. I booked a session with Nicole that day, and it was another life-changing experience. After many sessions with her, I realized, “Reiki makes me feel so good—I want to help others feel this way too.”

Nicole eventually became my Reiki teacher, mentor, and good friend. Today, I see clients and teach yoga at Sterling Yoga and Wellness Center, the same studio where I first met her.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As a Pittsburgh-based Reiki Master and teacher of the Usui Method of Natural Healing, I’m deeply passionate about energy work. My expertise includes Usui Reiki, Kundalini Reiki, Animal Reiki, Chakrascension, and Crystal Healing. I’m also a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance.

My mission is to help clients maintain strong, free-flowing energy. Imbalanced energy can lead to illness and discomfort, so I offer services like private and group Reiki sessions, Distance Reiki, Crystal Healing, Reiki parties, workshops, corporate events, and lectures. I also teach all three levels of Usui Reiki.

You can find me at Sterling Yoga and Wellness Center in Pittsburgh, where I work with clients, teach Reiki classes, and lead Energy-Infused Yoga classes.

I received my Reiki Level 1 attunement in 2016, Level 2 in 2017, and my Master Level in 2018. I began teaching Reiki in 2019. For a while, I practiced under the name “Reiki with Tracy Campbell.” In 2023, I finally achieved a long-time goal of completing my 200-hour yoga teacher training.

Afterward, I decided to rebrand my business as “Joyful Soul – Energy Infused Healing and Yoga.” On social media and my website, I go by Joyful Soul Pgh because, honestly, who wants to type out that full name?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. An open mind. Even though I didn’t initially understand energy work, I kept an open mind and gave it a chance. Something kept nudging me to “just do it,” and I’m so glad I listened.

2. Practice. Whether it’s Reiki or yoga, practicing consistently is how you develop your skills and build confidence.

3. Self-acceptance. Don’t compare yourself to others; we all have unique gifts. It took me years to embrace my abilities as a Reiki practitioner and yoga instructor. Teaching yoga was especially intimidating at first, but with time and experience, I’ve grown comfortable leading classes.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE networking and collaborating! Here are some things I’ve already done:

• Dual Reiki sessions and Reiki parties with other practitioners

• Reiki and Restorative Yoga with live sound baths

• Pop-up yoga classes and mini-Reiki sessions at events

• Guided meditations for networking events

• Lectures on Reiki and crystal healing, including CEU sessions for nurses

I’d love to collaborate with other energy workers, tarot readers, mediums, wellness practitioners, mental health professionals, and small businesses. If you’ve got an idea, I’m probably on board!
