Meet Gianna Picard

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gianna Picard. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Gianna, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I found my purpose through the guidance of the Lord our Savior Jesus Christ. He gave me a heart for trying to make change in the world by trying my very best every day to live and love others similar to how He would. Since I was a little girl, I always enjoyed helping. Whether that was helping my mother clean the house or voluntarily taking visits to the local nursing home to visit with my 93 year old great grandmother. Truly, my purpose has been wiggling inside me from such a young age and as I’ve grown older I’ve discovered different ways to continue serving others and the community, trying my very best to help those around me succeed and be seen and heard.

I went from being an active missionary with the church to being a dental assistant to becoming a full-time publicist. And somehow.. everything I’ve ever done is connected and has revealed the purpose in life I live for, that God has blessed me with.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My name is Gianna Picard and I am the founder of Gianna Rose Public Relations, a freelancing public relations service based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. In 2018, I graduated from Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School where I obtained my certifications in Infection Control, Radiology Health ad Safety, OSHA, and BLS. Even while in high school, I worked clinically as a Dental Assistant – my first time balancing work, trade and academic education. This work ethic was developed when I was at the age of 17.

After graduating, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue dental or try something completely new. It was a big step to take! After being active on the mission field, traveling to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, I was able to teach oral hygiene instruction to an entire community of families. It was here when I knew that I wanted to serve a purpose greater than serving myself, but truly helping to use my knowledge and experience to help better the world and communities that live in it with me.

I learned that I could not survive and make a living by just being a missionary – at least not right out of high school. So, I went on to study Public Relations at Palm Beach Atlantic University with concentration in strategic communications and image management. This field interested me because I learned it was all about creating and instilling mutually beneficial relationships between people, organizations, and so much more. After earning my Bachelor’s degree in PR, I worked corporate for one year – a public relations firm in Fort Lauderdale, FL. After there, I was actually out of a job for about three months before actually offering PR services myself – how GRPR came to be! Of course, it was hard to live off of savings for a while and invest in my business, so thank God I had a fall back – dental. I worked at Alman & Katz Dentistry in Boca Raton, FL as an administrative assistant and greeter, using my dental knowledge and skills to communicate and help operate a dental office. While working from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. everyday, I also freelanced my PR services and expanded.

Fast forward to 2024, I finally got a chance to work with my friend Julie Khanna at her PR studio – Khanna Connections and Khanna House Studios – as a PR contractor. Today, I work as a publicist/public relations account exec. there, as well as freelancing my services at GRPR. God is GOOD!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

What I’ve Learned:
1. Trusting that God provides all of the time, no matter what. It is the tough times that build us stronger.
2. Persistence. This skill has gotten me as far as I’ve come. Overcoming the fear of being annoying and just simply building relationships, staying in communication with people, and putting myself out there when seeking opportunity or me having one to give.
3. There is no such thing as “peak” potential; every day is a chance to do better than the day before, so do not put a cap on growth! Positive criticism is good.

Advice:

Be a good steward of your education and experiences! – Whether you have a fall back career or not, education or not, there is all something we are good at that others aren’t and vice versa (there are all something we are weak at that others are strong at). So try to value yourself more for the skills you have because it may help someone else!

When difficult times come, at work or in your home, talk to God – even if you aren’t a believer. If you are lost and knock on His door, He will answer. I recommend buying the PrAy to Z devotional on Amazon to help explore and nurture your faith journey through guided Scripture and coloring!

Empathy for others is innate for some and a practice for others. And that is okay, we are all on our own journeys and our job is to love. With empathy comes understanding and with understanding comes change – in how we communicate, interpret, and even live peaceably with one another.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

Anyone can be my client! If you are open-minded and wish to spread word about a brand, organization, or medical/dental practice – public relations may be a good thing for you to try. You could even be a musician who’s seeking gigs, a nonprofit or business wishing to be seen and heard, anyone with heart and passion for what they do makes an ideal client.

First consultation is free and can be scheduled on my website at giannarosepr.com/services.
