Meet Lava Vein A.k.a. King Okimo

We recently connected with Lava Vein A.k.a. King Okimo and have shared our conversation below.

Lava Vein , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I developed my confidence and self-esteem by by facing my fears. I also invested a lot of my time on personal development content on the internet and also by reading books. Upon consuming this content, I put the information into practice which grew my self-esteem overtime.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am a recording artiste originating from the countryside of Jamaica. I come from a small town called Highgate, Saint Mary Parish. Growing up, attending Highgate Primary School, then later transitioned to Saint Mary High School, which is the top rated high school in that region; a myriad of events and experiences enhanced my musical creative passion.

The community was always filled with youthful exuberance, joy, children playing, adults dancing, sports, agriculture etc. Many talented youths with bright futures. However, the burdens of lack and poverty from past generations was always lurking and ready to consume these bright futures in various ways. Whether by substance abuse, attacking the youth’s mindset, mental health, education and eventually discouraged them from their dreams at some point.

I was very determined to not be on that list. As my passion for music superseded all challenges, doubts, mental health issues, etc. Therefore, I transmuted all of those experiences into my music. This did not just motivate me, but also others.

I now reside in the United States, however, I stay true to my mission to be a beacon of hope for myself and fellow youth.

I’m currently promoting this single ‘Celebration’ by King Okimo & Artary Return (Featuring Lava Vein) Produced by Artary Return Records and Primordial Royalty.
Celebration is a very happy and radiant song. It emphasizes the beauty of life and nature. The flow of the song is very melodious and perfectly in sync with a happy beat. This song invokes joyful emotions and reactions from listeners.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities that are most impactful on my journey are perseverance, patience and empathy. These were not very easy qualities to develop, they became natural to me overtime. Anyone who wants to develop these quality should first Identify why. When you know why, it will be easier for you to persevere even when you lose focus. You develop these traits by consistently being committed to you most authentic heart desires.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

‘How to Win Friends & Influence People’, by Dale Carnegie is a very instrumental book in my journey. I do not regret purchasing that book few years ago. As, many lesson from that book I still use in my daily life when interacting with people. I did not know how much of a big deal and influence you can have on someone by simply remembering his\her name. When you remember someone’s name and address them as such they automatically get more receptive to partnering with you.
