Meet Taylor Lanore

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taylor Lanore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Taylor, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I find that my purpose is changing all of the time. My career path started in the hard sciences when I worked as an archaeologist for Manpower in San Diego during my college years, which I expected to become my lifelong purpose. Shortly after, I felt pulled to NYC and moved there on a whim without ever visiting first. I applied to be a personal assistant for a private jeweler in Brooklyn called MOCIUN, and this is where I got my start in fine jewelry, specifically engagement ring design and diamond consulting. My purpose at that point felt more like a journey in understanding my power as I made my way working for some of the most successful engagement ring design companies in NYC over the course of the following 7 years. By the way, 99% of the jobs I got during this time were because I sent a cold email with a personalized introduction and my resume attached, so never be too shy to try that route! You’d be surprised at how few people do, thus making you stand out. Anyhow around this time, I finally took a moment to look around and acknowledge that my purpose was becoming clearer, but I assure you, it wasn’t a linear journey or found through traditional channels. The best advice I give if you’re looking to find your purpose (as I was) is to try new things, talk to everyone, and say yes to new opportunities that come your way- even if just to try them. I finally grew the courage to start my own engagement ring design and fine jewelry company within the last 2 years here in San Francisco, so my purpose has changed yet again. Building a my company from the ground up has been the most challenging and rewarding experience thus far. I’m sure my purpose will continue to change as my company does which excites me to no end!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

With now 10 years of experience in the diamond industry, I started Lanore Fine Jewelry (women owned and operated) after being on the inside of some of the most successful fine jewelry companies in New York. My company’s pillars are built on client education, competitive pricing, high quality, and easy accessibility to an expert. Engagement ring design and diamond consulting are my bread and butter, with every engagement ring made by hand to suit the exact shape and measurements of the center stone you choose. I recognize that an engagement ring is one of the most expensive and emotional purchases one makes in a lifetime, so having not even just a good, but a *great* experience is of utmost importance to me. I also love fashion and keeping on top of trends so I designed a fine jewelry line of tennis bracelets and necklaces, fashion rings, earrings and more that are available on my Instagram and website. In addition to bridal and fine jewelry, I offer custom jewelry services not related to engagement, so if there’s an inherited ring or a loose stone you’ve had laying around that’s just not your style, we can work together to breathe new life into a new piece. I work closely with some of the most talented master bench jewelers in the country who bring my designs to life and with their expertise, all of my pieces are made with incredible attention to detail and pass through multiple rounds of quality control.
Currently I’m working on brand awareness, so please check out my IG @lanorefinejewelry or visit my site www.lanorefinejewelry.com! Drop me a dm, send me an email, just say hi! I’d love to hear from you.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three most important qualities or skills that were most impactful in my career journey were curiosity, tenacity and grit. There were plenty of times where I was the least qualified person in the room, but as someone who loves learning something new, I never let that intimidate me. You can always learn a new skill and you can excel even if you start at the bottom. The first step is being curious, the second step is being brave enough to try.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

I love this question and think about it a lot. Without realizing it, my parents taught me the importance of trying new things. By the time I had graduated high school in Kentucky, I had played soccer, tennis, field hockey, ice hockey, tried fencing, been in a ballet company, spent summers swimming and diving, and most notably, figure skated competitively. I think that this is one of the fundamental reasons why as a young adult, I was fearless in exploring new hobbies, jobs and places, which have accumulatively influenced my life and career path. My parents taught me the beauty of trying and I owe them so much for that!
