Meet Iliana Campos

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Iliana Campos a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Iliana, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I came to this country because I fell in love, got married, and my husband was already living here. Together, we decided that this country offered the best opportunity for a brighter future. Shortly after our wedding, I moved here, and we began my immigration process. I hadn’t fully anticipated the emotional and practical challenges of starting a new life in a different country, but I was determined to do things the right way.

This experience motivated me to pursue my degree equivalency and obtain my professional license so I could help others achieve their dreams of immigrating to this country. My mission is to guide and support them through the complex process, providing empathetic and honest advice while ensuring they navigate their journey within the framework of the law.

Building Self-Worth and Resilience: Key Insights for Personal Growth

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in external expectations, whether in our personal lives or careers. But truly understanding our own value and cultivating resilience is essential for growth and success. Here, I share my thoughts on how to build self-worth, maintain motivation, and create a strong support system.

1. Know Your Worth
I believe that understanding your own value is the first step toward building confidence and achieving your goals. If you don’t fully appreciate your own worth, it can be difficult to navigate life with confidence.

Self-Awareness is Key
One of the most important things I recommend is regularly reflecting on your strengths and achievements. I always tell people to take the time to write these down. It’s easy to forget just how far we’ve come, especially on the tough days. Keeping a list of accomplishments—big or small—helps remind you of your value when you need it most.

Set Boundaries
Another essential part of knowing your worth is learning to set boundaries. It’s easy for others to impose their expectations on you, or for your confidence to be chipped away by negative people or situations. Saying “no” isn’t always easy, but it’s necessary. I think of boundaries as a way of protecting your mental and emotional energy so you can stay true to yourself.

The Power of Affirmations
Affirmations are a powerful tool I swear by. I encourage everyone to repeat empowering statements like “I am enough” or “I deserve success.” It might sound simple, but those small reminders shift your mindset. It’s a subtle but incredibly effective way to reinforce your worth.

2. Keep Moving Forward
Life is full of obstacles and setbacks, but the key to overcoming them is persistence. Progress is rarely linear, but perseverance is what ultimately makes the difference.

Start with Small Goals
When you’re aiming for a big goal, it can often feel overwhelming. That’s why I always advise breaking larger goals into smaller, manageable steps. Achieving even the tiniest goal can give you the momentum you need to keep going. Every win, no matter how small, is a step toward the bigger picture.

Learn from Setbacks
Setbacks happen to everyone. Instead of seeing them as failures, I encourage people to view them as opportunities for growth. I always ask myself, “What can I learn from this? How can I improve next time?” Shifting your mindset like this makes it easier to stay focused on moving forward rather than getting stuck in disappointment.

Consistency Over Perfection
Something I emphasize often is that success is more about consistency than perfection. It’s easy to think you need to be perfect in everything you do, but the truth is that consistent effort, even if small, will get you much farther. I always remind myself and others: Just show up. Over time, consistency pays off.

3. Lean on Your Support System
No one achieves success in isolation. A strong support network is vital, whether you’re tackling personal goals or facing challenges in your career.

Identify Your Circle
I’m a firm believer in the power of a supportive community. Surround yourself with people who inspire and uplift you—whether that’s family, friends, mentors, or colleagues. You need people who genuinely want to see you succeed, people who will push you to be your best self.

Open Communication is Crucial
Building strong relationships also requires open communication. I make it a priority to share my goals, struggles, and successes with my support system. When we communicate openly, we build trust and deepen connections, which makes it easier to ask for help or gain fresh perspectives.

Reciprocity in Relationships
Strong relationships are built on reciprocity. While it’s important to lean on others, it’s just as important to offer support in return. I always remind myself to be there for others when they need encouragement or advice. Giving and receiving support is what makes relationships strong and lasting.

Final Thoughts
I believe that personal growth is a lifelong journey, and understanding your worth, staying persistent, and relying on a strong support system are the pillars that hold it up. We can all face challenges, but with the right mindset, determination, and people by our side, we can turn those challenges into stepping stones.

The journey isn’t always easy, but with resilience and the right tools, it’s possible to navigate even the most difficult of times and emerge stronger. Keep moving forward, and remember—you don’t have to do it alone.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The Values That Shaped My Life
From an early age, my parents instilled in me a set of values that have guided me in everything I do. These lessons have become the foundation of my character and the compass that directs my journey.

The Value of Honest Work
My parents taught me that there’s no substitute for integrity. They reminded me that when you do honest work, you can take pride in every accomplishment, no matter how small. Cutting corners or taking shortcuts may seem tempting, but true fulfillment comes from knowing you’ve earned your success through hard work and ethical practices.

Your Name and Reputation Speak for You
“Your name is your legacy,” they’d say. This simple yet profound lesson taught me to cherish and protect my reputation. Whether in personal relationships or professional endeavors, I strive to uphold my integrity because my actions define who I am. A good reputation isn’t just about how others see you; it’s about staying true to yourself and your principles.

Work Harder Than the Rest
My parents lived by example, showing me that dedication and perseverance separate the good from the great. They taught me that success isn’t always about being the smartest or the most talented—it’s about putting in the effort, staying consistent, and going the extra mile.

These values have shaped every aspect of my life. Whether I’m facing a new challenge, making a tough decision, or simply interacting with others, I always hear my parents’ voices reminding me of these timeless truths. Their teachings remind me that success built on honesty, a solid reputation, and hard work is not only more meaningful but also enduring.
