Meet Nikki Jackson

We recently connected with Nikki Jackson and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nikki, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I credit my resilience to a combination of personal challenges, steadfast faith, and the unwavering love of my children. Each obstacle—whether financial, emotional, or relational—taught me to adapt and find creative solutions rather than succumb to defeat. These experiences became building blocks for the strength I now lean on when the road gets tough.

My faith plays a vital role in how I face adversity, reminding me that hardship is temporary and can be transformed into a catalyst for growth. In moments of doubt or fear, turning inward to pray or reflect helps me regain clarity and resolve.

Above all, my children fuel my determination to keep moving forward. Their curiosity, laughter, and unconditional love remind me that I have a responsibility to show them what it means to persevere. It’s not enough to tell them to be strong; I have to live it every day.

Finally, I benefit from a supportive network of friends, mentors, and community members who believe in my vision and encourage me when challenges arise. Their confidence in my abilities and willingness to lend a hand bolster my resolve. Through these collective forces—faith, family, and community—I’ve learned that resilience isn’t merely about bouncing back; it’s about pressing forward with hope, purpose, and the conviction that every struggle carries within it the seeds of transformation.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the Founder and Executive Director of Just A Queen With Goals Empowering Women, a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting underserved youth and women through programs that address mental health awareness, trauma healing, financial literacy, and youth development. We believe everyone deserves the resources and support necessary to thrive, no matter where they come from.

What I find most exciting about our work is witnessing the moment a participant realizes their true potential—whether that’s learning how to budget effectively for the first time or discovering a new skill in one of our STEM workshops. Seeing people step into a space of confidence and self-worth fuels everything we do.

We have some new initiatives on the horizon that we’re thrilled to share. This year, we’re rolling out an expanded financial literacy curriculum with advanced classes on credit and homeownership, plus a leadership development series tailored for teen girls. We’re also hosting our first EmpowerHer Summit, an all-day event featuring guest speaker, breakout sessions, an opportunity to help women in our community build resilience, and healing from their trauma

If you’d like to support our mission or get involved, we’re always looking for volunteers, mentors, and partners. We believe that true empowerment is a collective effort—and together, we can create lasting change for families in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and beyond.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Self-Awareness

Why It’s Impactful: Self-awareness is the foundation for growth, because knowing your strengths, weaknesses, and motivations helps you make purposeful decisions. It prevents you from being on “autopilot” and allows you to align your actions with your core values.
How to Develop It: Regularly take time for introspection through journaling, meditation, or feedback from trusted mentors. Ask yourself questions like, “What went well today?” or “What could I do better?” This practice builds a clearer understanding of who you are and where you want to go.
2. Accountability

Why It’s Impactful: Accountability keeps you honest with yourself and others. It transforms intentions into tangible actions and ensures that you take ownership of your successes and failures. By being accountable, you learn to make conscious choices and take responsibility for the outcomes.
How to Develop It: Set specific, measurable goals and establish a support system—like an accountability partner or a coach—who will check in on your progress. Be transparent about your objectives and timelines, and regularly review what worked, what didn’t, and why.
3. Consistency

Why It’s Impactful: Consistency is the key that turns small, daily efforts into long-term success. It builds trust (both in yourself and from others) and creates momentum toward your goals. Without consistency, even the best plans can stall.
How to Develop It: Start with manageable commitments—like a set time each day to work on your goals or a weekly check-in. Track your progress, celebrate small wins, and refine your approach as needed. Over time, consistent effort compounds into significant results.
Advice for Those Starting Out:
Focus on these three areas as pillars of personal and professional growth. Cultivate self-awareness through reflection, establish accountability by setting clear goals and sharing them with others, and maintain consistency by creating routines and tracking your progress. By mastering these skills, you’ll lay a strong foundation for long-term success and continuous improvement.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Absolutely! I’m always open to partnering with individuals, businesses, and organizations that share a passion for empowering youth and women. This could include professionals who offer resources or expertise in areas like mental health, financial literacy, trauma recovery, or STEM education. It could also be community leaders interested in organizing events, providing mentorship opportunities, or volunteering their time. Essentially, if you have skills, knowledge, or a network that aligns with our mission of uplifting underserved communities, we’d love to explore collaborations.
