Meet Rylin Rossano

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rylin Rossano. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Rylin , thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?

I’ve encountered more than my fair share of doubters, people who have questioned my abilities, called me names, and tried to put me in boxes I didn’t fit into, from educational influences, to people i considered friends. But here’s the thing—no one else gets to define my path. In fact, the more I’ve been doubted, the more I’ve found the strength to push forward and show up as my true self.

Growing up, I was constantly told I wasn’t enough. I’ve been labeled dumb, incapable, and told I’d never amount to anything, often by those who should have been supporting me. But I’ve learned that what others think of me is not my truth. I’ve had to learn to rise above rejection, to silence the noise, and stay focused on what I’m building for myself.

I’ve faced challenges, like dealing with health issues that slowed me down when I wanted to go full throttle. But even in those moments, I refused to let anything hold me back from creating what sets my soul on fire.
Last year, I leaned into my passion. I built @recipesbyry and my podcast, Take Care of Your Body by Ry, to share my voice, to connect with others, and to be a source of inspiration for anyone on their own journey of health, self-love, and growth. Pursuing my nutrition degree to become an RD is just one more step towards fulfilling my purpose—to help others live their healthiest, happiest lives.

And through it all, I’ve learned to let go of people who couldn’t see my worth and trust that my work, my heart, and my passion are what define me. So to anyone who feels underestimated, who’s been told they can’t—remember this: you are more capable than you know. Your struggles don’t define you, they shape you. Keep going, keep creating, keep dreaming. And one day, everything that tried to break you will be the very thing that makes you soar

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

For this next part of the interview, here’s a suggestion to introduce your story and focus in a way that aligns with your passions and current work:

I’m Ry, and I’m all about creating wellness spaces that connect people to their bodies and minds. In everything I do, I aim to inspire others to be the best version of themselves—through food, self-love, and understanding the importance of nurturing our mental and physical health.

I run RecipesByRy, a platform where I share my love for food, wellness, and body positivity. The focus is on easy, accessible recipes that help people nourish their bodies and feel good doing it. My goal is to offer something that’s both practical and healing, because food isn’t just fuel—it’s a way to connect with ourselves and the world around us. This space is for everyone looking to embrace wellness, no matter where they’re starting from.

One of the most exciting things for me right now is my podcast, Take Care of Your Body by Ry. It’s my way of sharing more of my heart and voice with people who need to hear that they’re not alone in their wellness journeys. The podcast covers everything from body positivity and nutrition to mental health and personal growth, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to reach people on a global level. It still feels surreal that I get to connect with people from all over the world, and the feedback has been incredible.

Right now, I’m also in the process of pursuing my degree in nutrition, which is a huge step towards becoming a Registered Dietitian (RD). I’m deeply passionate about helping others create healthy, sustainable habits that truly support them—not just physically, but emotionally and mentally too.

The next exciting chapter for me includes expanding the work I’m doing around body image, mental health, and wellness. I’m always looking for ways to connect with others, share new ideas, and create meaningful conversations that help break down the barriers we put up when it comes to self-care.

Through it all, my mission is simple: to inspire people to find their own version of wellness, and to do it in a way that feels authentic to them. Wellness isn’t a one-size-fits-all—it’s about finding balance, peace, and self-love in whatever way works for you.

Stay tuned for more content, upcoming collaborations, and, of course, more from Take Care of Your Body by Ry — you can find it on your favorite podcast platform-because there’s always something new on the horizon!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful qualities that have shaped my journey are resilience, adaptability, and empathy.
1. Resilience: I’ve had to face a lot of obstacles—whether it was doubts from others or my own internal struggles with health, balancing school, and pursuing my passions. But what kept me going was resilience. I’ve learned how to push through setbacks, learn from them, and come out stronger on the other side. I’ve also learned to embrace the idea that failure is just a part of the process, not the end of the road.
Advice: For those early in their journey, know that obstacles are inevitable—but don’t see them as signs to give up. Build resilience by staying grounded in your “why.” When things get tough, remind yourself of your bigger picture and why you’re doing this in the first place. And most importantly, allow yourself to grow through the process.
2. Adaptability: As someone who’s gone through significant changes in my life—whether it’s graduating early or shifting my career and passion toward wellness and nutrition—I’ve learned that adaptability is key. Being able to pivot when necessary and embrace new opportunities has kept me moving forward.
Advice: Embrace change and new experiences. Sometimes, the path you think you’re on will take unexpected turns, and that’s okay. Adaptability allows you to grow and find new opportunities that you might not have anticipated. Stay open to learning and trying new things.
3. Empathy: In both my personal life and the work I do with RecipesByRy and my podcast, empathy has been central to connecting with others. When I understand people’s struggles, I can show up authentically and offer content or conversations that resonate with them. It’s not just about providing advice—it’s about truly understanding where others are coming from and meeting them where they are.
Advice: Be a good listener. In whatever journey you’re on, whether it’s business, health, or personal growth, connecting with people on a deep level is invaluable. It’s about building trust and creating meaningful relationships, and that starts with empathy. Learn to understand and support others—and let that guide your work.

For anyone just starting out, my biggest piece of advice would be: don’t rush the process. Focus on developing these qualities and know that growth takes time. Trust in yourself, stay patient, and keep evolving. Your journey is uniquely yours, and every step, even the missteps, will contribute to the person you’re becoming. Stay consistent, keep learning, and let your passion guide you through.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, especially with balancing work, wellness content creation, and managing my chronic illness, I take a step back and remind myself that it’s okay not to have everything figured out. I’m still figuring out how to navigate life while living with dysautonomia, a condition that affects the autonomic nervous system. It can cause symptoms like dizziness, heart rate fluctuations, fatigue, and more, and sometimes it feels like my body and mind are on different wavelengths. The important thing is learning how to listen to my body and give myself grace when I’m struggling.

Here are a few strategies that have helped me manage my overwhelming moments:
1. Taking Breaks: Whether it’s five minutes or an hour, I make sure to step away from whatever is causing stress. I focus on breathing, clear my mind, or take a quick nap if I need it. Listening to my body is key in these moments. I don’t push through when I’m too drained or unwell—taking those moments for myself helps me come back stronger.
2. Setting Realistic Expectations: I’m the type of person who can get stuck in the idea that everything needs to be perfect or completed right now. But, I’ve learned that setting small, realistic goals helps. When I was in school and balancing everything, I had to adjust my expectations to what I was physically able to do. Being kind to myself and accepting that I can’t do everything at once has been essential.
3. Talking to Someone I Trust: Sometimes, venting to a friend or family member is exactly what I need. I lean on my support system to help me get perspective. Sharing what I’m feeling, whether it’s frustration with my condition or just life in general, allows me to process it and feel heard. I wouldn’t be where I am without the support of my family- and my friends. I love talking to my mom- Colleen Rossano, and my sister Susan Rossano, when I need advice, inspiration or just a sense of support, I wouldn’t be who I am without them.
4. Staying Organized: Keeping a list or calendar really helps me stay on track, especially when there are a lot of moving pieces in my life. Whether it’s for my wellness platforms or personal health management, organization gives me a sense of control. Plus, checking things off is a reminder that I’m making progress, even if it’s small.
5. Resting & Nurturing Myself: Since I live with dysautonomia, it’s important to rest when I need to. Chronic illness can often make you feel like you’re not doing enough, and that’s when the overwhelm kicks in. But I’ve learned that rest is just as productive as work. Self-care looks different for everyone, but for me, it includes taking care of my body through rest, hydration, and making sure I don’t push myself beyond what’s necessary.

Lastly, I remind myself that I’m still learning. Chronic illness and life in general can be unpredictable, and I won’t always have everything under control. It’s a journey, and sometimes, the most important thing I can do is accept the uncertainty and let things unfold as they will.

To anyone else struggling, whether it’s with chronic illness or just life’s pressures, remember that you don’t need to have it all figured out. It’s okay to not be okay sometimes. Keep going, take breaks, and be gentle with yourself. You’re doing better than you think.
