Meet Brittney Ashley

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittney Ashley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Brittney, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

“Ever feel like you’re one lucky break away from being ‘found out’?”

That’s how I used to feel. Ironically, my impostor syndrome hits hardest when I’m speaking to a room full of people about impostor syndrome or teaching others how to build successful businesses. There I am, sharing advice I know works, while a little voice in my head whispers, “Who are you to be up here?”

Sound familiar? If so, you’re in good company—and trust me, there’s a way out.

Here’s how I turned that voice from a critic into a cheerleader and learned to embrace my worth:

1. Recognize and Celebrate Your Wins

The first step was realizing what I was dealing with. Impostor syndrome has a sneaky way of convincing you that your achievements don’t count. I started paying attention to patterns—like downplaying successes or feeling like I’d just “gotten lucky.”

To counter that, I created a “win” journal. At first, it felt cheesy, but now it’s a lifeline on tough days. Writing down even the smallest wins reminded me that my hard work, not luck, got me here.

2. Rewriting My Inner Narrative

That little voice saying, “You don’t belong”? I decided it was time to talk back. I began reframing my thoughts: instead of thinking, “I’m not qualified,” I’d remind myself, “I’ve earned my place, and I have something valuable to contribute.”

It’s not always easy, but shifting the story I tell myself made all the difference.

3. Investing in Myself

One game-changer was becoming a Rethinking Impostor Syndrome™ Coach Practitioner. Learning actionable strategies to help others also helped me. I discovered that even the most successful people have self-doubt—it’s not about never feeling it, but about knowing how to navigate it.

Here’s a warmer and more engaging version that incorporates your personal hook, a touch of humor, and a strong, empowering close:

4. Redefining Success

I realized I’d been chasing perfection, which is basically setting yourself up to fail. Now, I focus on progress and impact. Success isn’t about doing it all perfectly—it’s about showing up, learning, and growing along the way.

5. Leaning Into My Story

As a neurodivergent entrepreneur with ADHD and dyslexia, I used to think my differences were weaknesses. Now I see them as strengths. My unique way of thinking helps me connect with people authentically and solve problems creatively. Owning my story was one of the most powerful steps I took.

6. Helping Others

One of the best antidotes to impostor syndrome? Helping others break free from it. As a Certified Business Coach and Impostor Syndrome Coach, I’ve had the privilege of guiding so many amazing people to see their true potential. Watching clients move from self-doubt to confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of my work. It reminds me that we all have something extraordinary to offer.

In coaching, I’m not just teaching—I’m growing alongside my clients. Every time I help someone embrace their worth, it reinforces the message that we all have the power to own our story and make a meaningful impact.

The Bottom Line

Impostor syndrome may not disappear overnight, but every time I challenge that little voice, I get stronger. Every step forward is proof that I’m growing, learning, and thriving—and so are you.

Remember: You’re exactly where you’re meant to be. The world needs your brilliance—imperfect, authentic, and entirely yours.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three Key Qualities that Shaped My Journey

Looking back, there are three key qualities and areas of knowledge that have had the biggest impact on my journey as an entrepreneur:

1) Resilience & Adaptability: The ability to adapt and persevere, even in the face of setbacks, has been essential. Entrepreneurship is full of highs and lows, and it’s easy to feel discouraged when things don’t go as planned. However, viewing each obstacle as an opportunity for growth has been my anchor, especially during the most overwhelming challenges.

-Advice for New Entrepreneurs: Develop a resilient mindset by reframing setbacks as learning experiences. Embrace flexibility, and don’t be afraid to pivot when necessary. The ability to adapt is key to long-term success.

2) Self-awareness & Emotional Intelligence: As a business coach and entrepreneur, understanding myself—my strengths, weaknesses, and emotional triggers—has helped me navigate challenges with more grace. Emotional intelligence also plays a vital role in how I communicate with clients, team members, and partners. It’s not just about being skilled in business; it’s about how you show up as a person, how you manage relationships, and how you handle your emotions under pressure.

– Advice for New Entrepreneurs: Take the time to reflect on your own emotional responses and how they affect your work and relationships. Work on self-awareness and practicing empathy—it will make you a more effective leader and business owner.

3) Knowledge of Systems & Knowing When to Ask for Help: While I’ve always been knowledgeable about creating systems, one of the biggest lessons I learned was the importance of asking for help. Early on, I tried to do everything myself, believing I needed to handle every task to maintain control. But I quickly realized that building systems is not just about streamlining processes—it’s also about knowing when to delegate and seek guidance. Bringing in the right people and asking for help when needed has been crucial to scaling my business effectively.

Final Advice for New Entrepreneurs

The journey can feel lonely, overwhelming, and at times, frustrating. But keep going. The most important thing is to trust yourself and stay committed to your vision, even when it feels like it’s taking longer than you hoped. Seek out mentors, network with like-minded people, and be open to learning and evolving.

Success doesn’t happen overnight, but with persistence, a growth mindset, and support, you can build something meaningful and sustainable.

Most importantly, remember that you are not alone—we’re all learning and growing together.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Biggest Area of Growth: Boundaries and Self-Reflection

The past 12 months have been transformative in many ways, but one of the biggest areas of growth has been in setting and respecting my own boundaries. As someone who’s passionate about supporting others and empowering my clients, I’ve often found myself stretching too thin—saying “yes” to too many things out of a desire to help and be available. However, I’ve come to realize that the most important commitment I can make is to myself.

Learning to say “no” has been pivotal, not as a way of being selfish, but as a way of being intentional with my energy and time. I’ve learned that saying “no” isn’t about rejection; it’s about saying “yes” to what aligns with my values, goals, and personal growth. This has helped me preserve my energy for the people and opportunities that truly matter, and, ultimately, it’s helped me build a more sustainable and fulfilling business and life.

Another key shift has been around letting go of the need to explain myself or justify my choices to others. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of over-explaining or worrying about others’ judgments. But I’ve learned that people will judge you no matter what—and that’s okay. What’s important is that I stand firm in my own beliefs, make decisions that feel right for me, and channel my energy into the things that align with my purpose.

By focusing on me—and not on why others may not understand or agree with my choices—I’ve been able to build stronger boundaries, trust my instincts more, and create space for growth. It’s not about being selfish; it’s about being self-full—prioritizing my own well-being and creating space for the right people to support and lift me up.
Final Thoughts: Boundaries Are Not a Wall, But a Bridge

This growth has been about building a stronger relationship with myself. It’s about setting boundaries that help me maintain a healthy work-life balance and making decisions that align with my values. At the end of the day, focusing on my own journey and embracing my worth has allowed me to step into my full potential—without feeling the need to explain myself to anyone.
