Meet Lindsay King

We recently connected with Lindsay King and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I truly believe this is a lifelong practice—and honestly quite a large topic to address briefly. One that I feel is so important to share though. As I’ve gotten older and embraced self-reflection and inner work, my self-esteem has grown much stronger. This strength has developed through life experiences that brought me to great emotional depths and complexities, teaching me priceless lessons, showing me I can handle more than I thought, and walk through the fire so to speak. Through mentors and different modalities, I’ve learned that I can trust my intuition and inner voice, which has been transformative for me.

Each person’s experience and worldview is uniquely shaped by their culture, upbringing, and personality. Learning to honor my inner voice has allowed me to honor others’ voices as well, recognizing that multiple truths can coexist. As I’ve deepened this practice, I’ve discovered the joy of moving through the world more authentically. I’m now less concerned with others’ perceptions and more focused on being my truest self. Loving—both to myself and to others.

Several tools have enriched this area of my life and supported me through emotional depths and challenges: talk therapy, astrology, Human Design, intuitive readings, micro-current frequency support, journaling, energetic and subconscious reprogramming, the Akashic Records, acupuncture, time in nature, body movement aligned with my current energy, wonderful books, divination tools, and deep conversations with friends who practice active listening. I haven’t used all these tools simultaneously, and I’ve learned to trust that the right support will present itself when needed. This trust has become a helpful guide in navigating both my outer life and the inner world that exists alongside it. Life continues to present twists and turns that bring me to new edges. As I evolve, the support evolves with me, and I’ve learned to trust my inner compass more deeply with each step. This journey has become the essence of self-love, self-respect, and ultimately, self-esteem. Like the tides, it ebbs and flows—this is uncomfortable, of course, because as humans we crave certainty and long to know there’s a destination. Yet over time, I’ve come to embrace this rhythm as an essential part of my unique human experience.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I love working as a fine artist and energy worker, I draw deep inspiration from the natural world, doing my best to weave balance and beauty into everything I create. My intention and approach with the work, combines grounded, practical techniques with intuitive practices, giving me the opportunity to maintain a heartfelt connection to both my work and the world around me.

I primarily work with intuitive watercolor painting, which I explore through meditation, play, contemplation, and mindful observation of the human experience. This work continually lights me up, and I’m deeply grateful to pursue it. My mission is to create meaningful artwork that radiates love and compassion for life’s journey while exploring the vast terrain of the energetic cosmos. In hopes that the work creates harmony, beauty, and special meaning in personal spaces and homes. This brings me endless excitement—there is so much exploration and creativity within this realm! I often find myself in pure awe and gratitude.

I offer several creative services, including painting series, custom soul essence intuitive painting sessions, distant Reiki healing, intuitive watercolor teaching, inspired home living rituals, and a podcast called Inner Resonance that I co-host with a dear friend Eve Daher Kinsella. I’ve lived in the Pacific Northwest for over two decades, and had the pleasure of exhibiting my work in local wineries throughout the Walla Walla Valley, Portland boutiques, and also represented by Seattle Art Source.

I’ve recently released a painting series focused on angelic energy, with this most recent collection inspired by the angels of the mystical Kabbalah. While I do not come from this tradition I was very inspired by the angelic wisdom, universal truths, compassion and harmony. I experience unseen beings, archetypes, and guides as energetic consciousness, including the angelic realm. These paintings explore both energetic attributes and visual impressions, serving as energetic containers that hold the essence of this consciousness—to be shared and experienced in the space it resides. The material world around us acts as an energetic container so to speak, and I love working intentionally to create these artful vessels. I’m currently beginning a new series inspired by astrological planetary associations. Being in the early stages, there’s much yet to unfold about how this series will manifest—once again embarking on another path of artistic exploration. We shall see what unfolds!

Outside of work, my husband, sweet dog, and cat live a very simple life focused on authentic living, time in nature, and cherishing moments with loved ones. Life holds intricate complexity even within simplicity, and we strive to create a life that honors it all. We love sailing together and dream of living on our 30-foot sailboat, exploring and traveling. I’m so curious to see what art and creative expression might emerge from the possibility of living aboard our boat for a few years!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Creating a nurturing space for myself has made a profound impact on my journey. I’ve lived in small apartments—both with and without roommates—and in my own home. Even when my nurturing space was just a nightstand beside my bed, the only space I could call my own, I’ve always prioritized having a spot that soothes my nervous system and feels like home. This practice has taught me the power of creating an inner nurturing space through gentle breathing exercises and meditation. The feeling of home within is essential to me, and it naturally expresses itself in the places I inhabit. Drawing from years of creating sacred spaces regardless of my living situation, I created a short, simple e-book workshop called “Intentional Corners and Altar Spaces.” The purpose of creating a nurturing space(s) serves as a mindful visual reminder to return to the heart space—where emotional intelligence and resilience reside. This nurturing practice deeply supports my highly sensitive nature, as well as reminds me of the importance of aligned self care routines.

The creative passion and ability to delve into the depths of human emotion and channel this through artistic expression. Visually my art represents as light and ethereal, and I attribute this to my affinity for exploring life’s mysteries while simultaneously deeply appreciating harmony and beauty. Maybe it’s a need to find silver linings, but even in the darkness I have found light, and this is what I find to be tenderly beautiful. This “skill” is more of a willingness to embrace my passion and vulnerability expressed through painting.

Patience and persistence are somehow fundamental parts of my makeup and growth in this life. Of course, I have moments where I feel ready to throw in the towel and be done with it all, yet I somehow always find my way back to the “work” I am here to do. Pursuing an intuitive watercolor art career requires both patience and persistence! People aren’t constantly lining up to buy art, especially in my particular niche. I’ve spent years refining my artistic skill and developing my artistic voice—and continue to do so. Beyond the creative aspects, I’ve had to learn how to build a business and market myself. All of this has taken considerable time and learning. Much of the latter has been uncomfortable, as I felt like a fish out of water trying to balance creative flow while creating a structured business container—and finding the inner boldness to “market” what has come from the heart! I’ve been overwhelmed many times, but this work remains deeply important to me. As I’ve learned, beautiful things grow through patience and persistence. If I tried to skip ahead, the lessons would still be there, perhaps becoming even more challenging to navigate. Patience has taught me to surrender to life’s flow of what is wanting to happen for me, while persistence has shown me that the things I’m meant to do will always be worth pursuing and inspire consistent action toward the work at hand. I am genuinely grateful for the lessons I’ve learned so far, and am really proud of what has been created from this soil.

My words of encouragement for anyone early in their personal journey: This living incarnation of you is beautiful and brief. Get to know yourself deeply so you can live as your most authentic self. It’s an important act of love. As you genuinely honor yourself, you honor others. When you deeply understand the vessel you’re steering through this life, you gain clarity about what you want to do and where you want to go. This self-knowledge becomes your anchor through life’s ebbs and flows. Also, try not to over-identify who you are with what you do. The work I do comes from my heart and holds deep importance to me, but it’s only one part of who I am. This perspective has helped me when I’ve needed to take other jobs to support the work I’m here to grow through in the larger journey.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Among the many books that have inspired me over the years, Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Big Magic” had a profound impact on my life and work when it came out. Long before I began creating intuitively, I had received guidance to make paintings purely from intuition and ideas that were ready to work with me. However, I felt completely lost, wondering how anyone could even begin working this way—I had no context whatsoever. As I slowly began exploring this possibility, Gilbert’s book was released. I remember how her words seemed to illuminate the page, making me feel seen and encouraged. Her perspective on choosing curiosity over fear helped me trust the creative process, explore ideas willingly, and approach my work with greater openness and wonder. Her concept that ideas possess their own energy and actively seek collaborators deeply resonated with me, validating my experiences with inspiration and creative connection. During those early years of deepening my intuition and developing my artistic practice, her words felt like a familiar language—a reminder that I wasn’t alone. She encouraged me to honor and strengthen my intuition while embracing creativity as a collaborative, magical force in my life.
