Hi Mauricio, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
I overcome imposter syndrome by realizing that I am exactly where I should be right here and right now. And my work ethic brought me here, I overcome it by realizing that whatever steps I’ve taken it has always been me. I’m responsible for my success.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I have been covering the entertainment industry for more than a decade, focusing on movies, tv, streaming and music.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Assertiveness might be my favorite word, and to always say yes within reasonable terms. Try to learn from people around you, try to surround yourself with good people.
Jennifer Lopez once said you’re only as good as the people you work with and I absolutely agree.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
To go ahead and disconnect. And something thay works for me day to day: not pay attention to everyone’s life on social media; do you, focus on your goals and do not ever compare your journey to anyone’s
