Meet Rosie Mencia

We recently connected with Rosie Mencia and have shared our conversation below.

Rosie, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
If you’d asked me 20 years ago what my purpose was, I probably would’ve said, “Survive the week.” Back then, life felt like a never-ending to-do list: be a good wife, take care of the kids, pay the bills, and somehow keep myself from unraveling. Purpose? That felt like a luxury I didn’t have time for. Life was about getting through the day without completely falling apart.

I didn’t wake up one day and decide to go searching for my purpose—it found me, but not in the way you’d expect. If anything, it was more like being dragged into the search kicking and screaming. At the time, my focus was on doing everything I thought I was supposed to do: checking boxes, keeping up appearances, and holding it all together. But deep down, I felt like something was missing, like I was living on autopilot with no real sense of who I was beyond the roles I played.

And then life threw its curveballs. My wake-up call didn’t come with fireworks. It came wrapped in chaos: a crumbling marriage, losing someone I admired deeply, and waking up every day feeling like a stranger in my own skin. I didn’t know who I was anymore, let alone what my purpose could be. It was a slow unraveling, and at the time, it felt like I was losing everything.

One sleepless night, I found myself sitting on the floor of my bedroom—no candles, no mood lighting, just me and a messy bun holding on for dear life. I whispered to the universe, “What now?” It wasn’t a booming voice or a grand epiphany that answered me, but something softer, like a nudge: “You’re not here to carry it all. You’re here to help others unpack their load, too.”

That nudge didn’t change everything overnight, but it sparked something—a tiny flicker of curiosity. Slowly, I started revisiting the things that used to light me up, the things I’d put aside for years. I dusted off the Tarot cards that once fascinated me, explored the vibrations of sound healing, and rediscovered the joy of connecting with others on a soul-deep level. Bit by bit, I realized my purpose wasn’t about having all the answers or being perfect. It was about creating space—space for others to heal, to grow, and to find their own light.

Finding your purpose isn’t a single moment or a linear path. It’s a dance—a rhythm you learn by stepping into the unknown and trusting your own beat, no matter how shaky it feels at first. For me, that dance started as a whisper, grew into a roar, and now shows up every time I help someone leave a session feeling lighter, freer, and more themselves.

So, how did I find my purpose? By first letting go of the idea that I had to figure it all out. I got lost, stumbled, and fell more times than I can count, but each misstep brought me closer to the woman I am today. A woman who knows her purpose isn’t just a job, but a calling—a calling to create space for others to find their way, too. And honestly? I wouldn’t change a thing.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
At Rosebud & Sprout, everything we do is rooted in connection—to ourselves, to each other, and to the world around us. Whether I’m working as a death doula, sound therapist, or spiritual coach, my focus is on creating spaces where people can heal, grow, and reconnect with their truest selves.

Through sound therapy, chakra work, and end-of-life care, I help people release what no longer serves them and find balance, clarity, and strength. One of my most exciting offerings right now is biofield tuning, a powerful practice using sound to clear energy blockages and align the body and mind.

But my favorite part? Transformation. Watching someone walk into a session carrying years of stress or pain and leave feeling lighter and more connected to themselves is why I do this work. Whether it’s through sound baths, movement, or soulful conversations, my goal is always the same: to create a safe space where people can release, heal, and grow.

I also host many community events like Soul Flow, a donation-based gathering that blends light movement, breathwork, and sound healing and silence. It’s open to everyone, and the focus is on making wellness accessible to all.

Looking ahead, I’m developing a nonprofit called Astra, which will offer affordable wellness services like yoga, sound therapy, workshops, and 12-step support groups. The dream is to create a welcoming space where people can find healing and connection without barriers.

Oh, and did I mention my podcast? Walking the Blooming Path with Rosebud & Sprout explores how spiritual practices can weave into your daily life, because healing doesn’t have to be reserved for “special occasions.”

If there’s one thing I’d love for readers to know, it’s this: my work is about creating spaces where you feel safe, seen, and supported. Whether you’re navigating life’s toughest moments or simply seeking more clarity and connection, there’s room for you here.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, if I had to pick the top three qualities that carried me through this journey, it’d be resilience, curiosity, and compassion. These weren’t gifts I woke up with one day—they were earned through life’s challenges, one stumble at a time.

Resilience
Life has a way of knocking you down just when you think you’ve got it figured out. Resilience isn’t about being unshakable—it’s about knowing you can rebuild. For me, it meant leaning on loved ones, finding healing through spiritual practices, and giving myself permission to feel all the messy emotions.
Advice: Let yourself rest. Build rituals that ground you—whether it’s journaling, meditating, or sipping tea—and let them remind you of your strength.

Curiosity
Curiosity saved me from staying stuck. It’s what made me ask, “What else is out there?” when life felt overwhelming. That question led me to sound healing, Tarot, and even going back to school.
Advice: Stay curious, even when life feels heavy. Explore what lights you up, whether it’s a book, a class, or a hobby. Let yourself be a beginner—it’s where the magic happens.

Compassion
Here’s the big one: compassion. It starts with being kind to yourself, and trust me, that wasn’t easy for me. Over time, I realized that beating myself up wasn’t getting me anywhere. Compassion made space for growth and helped me hold space for others.
Advice: Talk to yourself like you would a friend. Give yourself grace when you stumble, and extend that same kindness to others. Compassion isn’t weakness—it’s strength in its purest form.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m always looking for kindred spirits who share my vision of making wellness accessible and creating spaces where healing and connection can thrive. Collaboration, for me, is about coming together to spark something bigger than ourselves—pooling our talents, energy, and ideas to create real magic.

Right now, I’m especially focused on growing Astra, my nonprofit dedicated to providing accessible wellness services like yoga, sound therapy, workshops, and support groups. This is a big dream, and it’s going to take a village to bring it fully to life. If you feel called to contribute—whether through donating your time, services, or expertise—your help could make a meaningful impact in helping Astra flourish and reach more people.

We’re also seeking passionate investors who believe in the transformative power of wellness and want to play a key role in opening Astra’s doors. Your support will allow us to expand our offerings, create welcoming spaces, and make wellness a reality for everyone, regardless of their circumstances. With your help, we can turn Astra into a sanctuary of healing and growth for the community.

If this resonates with you, let’s connect! Reach out through my website or social media, and let’s explore how we can work together to bring Astra’s vision to life. Together, we can open doors—literally and figuratively—and create lasting change.
