Meet Sabrina Dupuis

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sabrina Dupuis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Sabrina , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Imposter Syndrome is hard! I think any creative can relate to this feeling and we’ve all been there. I’d be lying if I said I still don’t struggle with this often.

When I am going through a moment of when it’s hitting me heavy, I try to reframe my negative thoughts. This is crucial because it’s easy to get lost in those – so you have to work at just letting go and refocusing on positive things. Whether that’s with the help of talking through feelings with a friend or even just writing down your recent accomplishments. You have to remember to celebrate your wins, even the small ones!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I’d say my motivation, passion, and consistency were most impactful on my journey so far as a creative photographer. Making the decision to start something is the first step, but I truly believe it’s the consistency and drive that makes you successful. And passion is what absolutely keeps you pushing through, even on the hard days!

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Oof this is a good one because to be honest I get overwhelmed quite often, haha. It’s in my nature – I am over ambitious and then to take on more than I have the capacity for at times. BUT I’d say if there’s one thing, I always work through it.

Take things day by day, hour by hour if you have to. When I think about all my tasks at once, that doesn’t get me anywhere but stressed! I break things down little by little and that is really effective for me.

As far as yourself and your mental, take necessary breaks. Like they always say, you can’t pour from an empty cup. So make sure you fill your own first 🙂
