Meet Adonis Musa

We were lucky to catch up with Adonis Musa recently and have shared our conversation below.

Adonis, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I navigated the choppy waters of imposter syndrome by diligently perfecting my craft—whatever that entails in the ever-evolving landscape of business. Through a blend of trial and error, I came to realize that the most profound learning occurs when you build something from the ground up. This hands-on approach not only demystifies the process but also provides an intimate understanding of its workings. After investing countless hours sculpting my dream career, the once-daunting “how” transformed from a nagging worry into a robust skill set. In the end, it seems that the secret to confidence lies not in pretending to know it all, but in the delightful journey of figuring it out along the way.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

As the Founder of Musa, I am an experienced Event Producer, Stylist, and Showroom Owner, curating elevated experiences for fashion, beauty, and culinary brands. Through my platform, I offer these visionary brands the unique opportunity to present their collections to a global audience during some of the most prestigious Fashion Weeks and festivals, as well as exclusive events held in top-tier cities including New York, Paris, Milan, London, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, and the Dominican Republic, among others.

Participants are invited to showcase their collections either on the runway—where I serve as the Head Stylist, meticulously curating each look—or host a dynamic brand activation within our carefully curated pop-up experiences. At Musa, we don’t just create events; we craft unforgettable moments that elevate brands and captivate audiences worldwide.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Resilience, consistency, and attitude—these are the three cornerstones that have shaped my journey to where I am today.

My advice? First, attitude doesn’t need to be flawless every single day. However, it should be strong enough to view every setback or obstacle as a valuable lesson or a new challenge to overcome. This mindset ensures that failure is not an option.

Second, if you own something—or aspire to own something—understand that your personal life might depend on your business, but your business cannot, and should not, revolve around your personal life. If you neglect this principle, it’s easy to lose sight of your dreams or let them slip away. The key is to stay consistent, regardless of personal circumstances or challenges.

Lastly, resilience—though similar to consistency—is about maintaining a clear vision of the bigger picture while remaining adaptable. If one door closes, don’t dwell on it. Simply move on to the next. Flexibility in approach, combined with unwavering persistence, is what keeps you moving forward even in the face of rejection.

In short, resilience, consistency, and attitude will not only guide you to success but ensure that you stay there, no matter the obstacles.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

When I find myself overwhelmed, I rely on a methodical approach to regain clarity and composure. It’s a process that, though simple, helps me reset and refocus with purpose:

Identify the Source: First, I ask myself: Why am I feeling stressed or overwhelmed? Pinpointing the root cause is key to addressing the issue without letting it spiral.

Confront the Worst-Case Scenario: Once I understand the source, I visualize the worst possible outcome. In doing so, I consider the big picture: Do I still have my health? How long would it take to recover from this setback? I assess both the immediate and long-term consequences. By mentally embracing the worst-case scenario, I often find that the fear of it dissipates entirely, as it’s rarely as catastrophic as our minds first imagine.

Plan with Precision: I then draft a strategic plan for both the best and worst outcomes, outlining clear steps to mitigate risk and seize opportunity. But before diving back in, I make sure to take at least an hour to disconnect—whether that’s enjoying a meal, unwinding, or simply recharging—allowing myself the space to reset before returning to action, free from the stress that once consumed me.

This simple yet effective process empowers me to step back, recalibrate, and face challenges with a renewed perspective.
