Meet Kay Shehata

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kay Shehata. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Kay, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

I believe we were born on Earth to experience everything. So, if you feel like you’ve gotten something you don’t deserve, think again. You’ve worked on yourself—your health, your skills—and that’s what truly matters. What comes next can always be learned.

Recognize that you are worthy. If you don’t see your own value, then who will? If you don’t validate yourself, then who will? If you can’t envision yourself thriving, then who will?

No one is thinking about you as much as you are. Working on my skills is what got me to where I am today—not thinking less of myself. We all deserve the best!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

At Khaia Studio, I focus on creating designs that don’t just look beautiful but truly connect with people. As a multidisciplinary designer, I specialize in branding, illustration, and creative strategy, collaborating with clients across the globe, including the US, UK, Australia, and beyond. What sets Khaia Studio apart is the passion for storytelling and the belief that design can elevate businesses and leave a lasting impression.

What excites me most is the strategic thinking behind each project. I love diving deep into a brand’s identity, understanding its core, and crafting designs that reflect its essence. It’s this process of uncovering and shaping a story through design that feels incredibly rewarding.

Right now, I’m rebranding Khaia Studio itself. It’s a journey to reflect the studio’s growth and ensure the brand feels as sleek, descriptive, and impactful as the work I do for my clients. I’ve also been exploring ways to expand services, adding layers of creativity that go beyond traditional design. From launching new collections of custom products to consulting on creative strategies, Khaia Studio is evolving to provide a more holistic approach to design.

What I’d like people to know is that at Khaia Studio, every project is personal. It’s about collaboration, creating something unique, and helping businesses shine through thoughtful and stunning designs. Whether you’re a startup looking to stand out or an established brand aiming to refresh your identity, I’m here to bring your vision to life.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities and skills in my journey have been:

1. Adaptability: Working across multiple disciplines like branding, illustration, and strategy has opened diverse opportunities. For beginners, experiment with different fields to find your strengths and broaden your expertise.

2. Strategic Thinking: Design is about more than aesthetics—it’s about storytelling and problem-solving. Learn the business side of design, including branding and marketing, to create work with purpose and impact.

3. Resilience: Challenges are inevitable, but perseverance and a growth mindset are key. Embrace feedback, learn from setbacks, and view each project as a stepping stone to improvement.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

Mentors, clients, and my own resilience have been instrumental in my journey. Mentors and peers provided guidance and inspiration, while clients challenged me to adapt and grow through diverse projects. Most importantly, trusting my instincts and embracing continuous self-improvement has helped me overcome challenges and develop the skills I need to succeed.
