Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kacie Larson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kacie, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
I think as artists and creatives we are always up against imposter syndrome. It’s that constant voice inside your head that is always casting doubt on your abilities and skills. I’m not sure that it ever actually goes away but there are certainly ways I’ve learned to manage it. First, I had to believe in myself and believe that I’m worthy of having what I want in life. Once I started believing in myself, I started to develop confidence which focused my attention away from what others were doing and thinking. Secondly, I had to acknowledge my accomplishments. I’ve come a long way over the years and I have a lot to be proud of and thankful for. Third, I had to accept that I’m going to make mistakes and that nobody is perfect, even those I look up to and think have it all together. And spoiler alert, nobody actually has it all figured out. We’re all just learning as we go!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My speciality is within brand design, meaning I develop brand identities primarily for small businesses and entrepreneurs. This includes strategic and customized brands and websites for those just starting their business or for those looking to rebrand their business. I also work with larger companies and non-profits on more production-based projects and on-going design support. Panda Express, The Eckhart Tolle Foundation, Ruffwear Performance Dog Gear, and The Conservation Alliance are some of the clients that I am proud to work with.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO in 2014 and since then, I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing clients, providing them with high-quality, meaningful, and holistic design solutions that have helped them reach their business goals and get ahead in their industries.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
First and foremost, I’ve always had immense gratitude for my journey and where I’ve ended up today. I’m thankful for all of the experiences that have shaped me not only as a designer but as a business owner, as well. I carry this gratitude with me everyday which makes me eager and excited to serve my clients. Secondly, perseverance – having the ability to not quit when things get difficult. As business owners, things will undoubtedly be challenging but it’s important to stay laser focused on your goals and take actionable steps everyday to get you to where you want to be. If you can do that, you will be successful! Lastly, keep an open mind and be willing to learn from your mistakes. True growth comes from being uncomfortable and facing the things that scare us most.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
I LOVE working with female entrepreneurs in all different types of professions. Photographers, coaches, estheticians, consultants, and those in the health, fitness and food industries to name only a few. My ideal client would be someone who truly sees the value in customized and strategic design and who is willing to trust the intentional process. Often times business owners assume that their brand only needs a logo to be successful, however I love working with people who can see beyond this and who realize that successful branding actually encompasses much more.
