Meet Brittney Marie Darling

We were lucky to catch up with Brittney Marie Darling recently and have shared our conversation below.

Brittney Marie Darling , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

From a young age, I recognized that I stood apart from many of my peers, not only in appearance but also in my mindset, creativity, and self-assurance. Embracing authenticity and viewing my differences as strengths has been a core principle I’ve consistently pursued. Life has taught me the importance of being my own advocate, and as a result, I approach every situation with confidence, always striving to contribute my unique qualities and perspectives with full commitment. I always say there’s a reason I’m in these rooms, so have a good time and give them Brittney Marie Darling!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Ten years ago, I began my beauty, fashion, and lifestyle blog, one of the few plus-sized influencers in an industry that lacked representation. I quickly got to work on paving a way for myself, collaborating with top publications like Cosmopolitan, Vogue, and Teen Vogue, and working with high-profile brands such as Kylie Cosmetics, Versace, and Covergirl. As my career evolved, so did my ambitions. I expanded my portfolio into PR, branding, and marketing, particularly for celebrity clients, which deepened my understanding of the industry and fueled my entrepreneurial spirit.

A personal passion of mine, Afternoon Tea, has also grown into a significant focus. I first experienced this tradition on my 20th birthday Tea party and since then, I’ve studied tea’s origins, pairings, and etiquette. After completing certification from The British School of Excellence, I’ll be attending advanced training in London this year. My passion for Afternoon Tea led me to launch Darling SocieTea, a community for global tea lovers, which will soon offer loose-leaf teas, tea accessories, tea experiences and more.

In addition to this, I’m excited to share that two of my books will be published this year. My Fashion and lifestyle Blog will be returning featuring new collaborations, beauty reviews, travel, cooking, home decor and more. Through these exciting endeavors I’ve learned the value of patience, preparation, and education. Last year, I launched The Disciple Wears Prada, a Christian-based blog and podcast that blends faith, fashion, and contemporary issues. I’m looking forward to collaborating with other likeminded Faith based creators and entrepreneurs to bring inspiration while sharing their personal testimonies and stories. With each project, I continue to embrace my diverse passions, focusing on growth, connection, and purpose-driven projects.

I am also deeply committed to my philanthropic endeavors, actively serving within my church and participating in global mission trips to make a meaningful impact.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

If I had to advise those early in their journey, I would say have courage to be yourself. You have to have Faith and remember who you are, focus on being the best version of you. Along the way give yourself grace to make mistakes in both your personal life and professional journey. My best qualities are those that have developed over time from being persistent in the pursuit of my visions. Fall down seven, get up eight. I don’t believe in limits, there’s always a way to get to where you want to go, study those who have succeeded in what your focus is and simply learn from them without comparing. Most importantly I’ve had to have patience and trust God’s timing.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

The Bible has profoundly shaped my life and serves as a firm foundation and guiding light for my aspirations. Through its teachings, I have discovered my identity in Christ, which has instilled in me the values of patience, grace—both toward myself and others, and to give my very best throughout my life. The Scriptures illustrate how God has utilized imperfect individuals throughout history to achieve remarkable things. This inspires and reminds me that while I may never attain perfection, I am embraced by divine love and encouraged to pursue the things he’s set before me even when facing life’s challenges. I also strive to extend a helping hand to uplift and encourage others on their journeys.
