Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amber Broihier. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amber , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
What a question. Simply put, through healing, valuing and learning from all of my life experiences. I grew up in a single parent meth addict home, filled with lots of trauma and an array of experiences; homelessness, mental and physical abuse, abandonment, living in small town Iowa to Long Beach, California, being a ward of the state at 17, divorce, death, motherhood, the list goes on, When I was 19, I moved to Wisconsin and persued a degree in accounting. One day, sitting behind three computer screens, I got up, walked outside and called UWGB to enroll in the education program. I knew, at that moment, I needed something more fulfilling in my life. Something that gave me a sense of purpose. That’s when I began teaching 4th grade for 8 years at a local elementary school, It was there that I was beginning to understand my purpose; help kids learn how to love themselves, build confidence from within and inspire them to be the best versions of themselves. Be that person I always wanted and needed as a child, In addition to curriculum, we would set goals, practice daily affirmations, reprogram our thought patterns, build leadership skills, meditate, practice yoga, be vulnerable, step outside our comfort zones, and love and support ourselves and each other. My first year teaching is also when I began my healing journey by enrolling self improvement program. In 2020, I won the Golden Apple for my social and emotional classroom culture. It was then, that I realized I wanted to have a larger sphere of influence and earned my Masters in Leadership all while getting divorced and figuring out life as a single mom. Shortly after my divorce, I entered into an abusive relationship. It was this experience that furthered my healing journey and help me find my worth, my self love and the evolution of my purpose even more. I currently am living my best life. I am the Dean of Students at a local elementary school where my sphere of influence reaches over 500 staff and students. Through my healing and self love journey, I wanted to share my knowledge, skills, and experiences with even more people and that is why I founded w. Self Love, LLC. I currently partner with local entrepreneurs teaching weekly self love classes, facilitating retreats and events centered around self love. I believe that I have experienced all I have experienced, heal (ed) & (ing), and gained knowledge and tools to share with the greater good, so they can too, find peace and happiness within and all around.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a Self Love Empowerment Teacher where I teach and empower our local community how to love their whole self, inside and out, I facilitate weekly 1 hour long classes where we dive into the different components of self love. Each class has its own theme, independent of one another. Therefore, students are able to personalize their learning experience by signing up based on what they need. Some examples include, but are not limited to, setting boundaries, loving our inner child, feeling our feelings, doing what we love, affirmations, changing our thought patterns, etc. In class, we learn and grow together through thought provoking questions, journaling, meditation, movement, and/or breath work. I share my tools and knowledge and also encourage others to share theirs as well, creating a space for being both a student and a teacher. In addition to these classes, I provide one-on-one classes allowing for a more intimate and personalized session. I also facilitate/cofaciliate local retreats and events that are focused on self love.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Trusting the Process – believing that everything happens for a reason and that my experiences were an intentional part of the process for me to learn and grow so I am able to help others.
2. Vulnerability – sharing my story so others can relate and be inspired to share their story, allowing for the healing process to begin.
3. Teaching Experience – knowing how to lesson plan, communicate, question, challenge, teach, and share my wisdom with the greater good.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I would absolutely love to collaborate with other entrepreneurs. Self love is all encompassing and really does connect with every entrepreneurial avenue. In the most basic sense, self love is about doing what you love, for you. Therefore, I am able to collaborate with artists, financial advisors, health and wellness, photographers, makeup artists, interior decorators…anyone. I am an idea person and can find something we can collaborate on, whether that would be in person, virtual or through social media exchanges. Let’s connect. Let’s grow. Together.
