We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jazelle Foster. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jazelle below.
Jazelle, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
You know what’s funny? I actually approach creativity like I was taught in acting school – as a well that you have to keep filling. It’s not just about waiting for inspiration to strike. As an actor-turned-digital marketer, I’ve learned that creativity is a muscle you can train, not just some magical spark that comes and goes.
Here’s what I mean: Sometimes I’m working with a client and I’m just not feeling that immediate connection to their brand. Instead of forcing it, I’ll ask myself a fun question to get things rolling. Like, what would this brand’s theme song be? What does it smell like? It sounds wild, but using sensory details can unlock a whole new way of seeing things. I had this skincare client once, and I was stuck until I started thinking about their brand as a spa playlist – suddenly everything clicked.
But let’s be real – sometimes the inspiration well runs dry, and that’s okay. You’re either bursting with ideas or staring at a blank screen, right?I learned that you need two things: a way to capture creativity when it’s flowing, and a backup plan for when it’s not. That’s why we feel so strongly about helping people with that.
The truth is, I’ve worked on characters and projects that I couldn’t unlock until I found my own special way into the work. Sometimes that meant taking a completely unexpected approach. Digital marketing isn’t so different. It’s about finding that unique angle, that personal connection that makes everything click.
But here’s the real secret: Plan for both the drought and the flood. Set up systems that can catch your creative downpour when it comes, but also have frameworks in place that can carry you through the dry spells. That’s why I’m so passionate about being transparent about stuff like this on our YouTube channel – because creativity doesn’t have to be this elusive thing we chase. It can be cultivated, nurtured, and most importantly, sustained.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
You’ve got to understand, I started as a creative who was hustling through various gigs, and I kept picking up these skills that other people found tricky. Now, my team and I are like a one-stop shop for creatives & businesses. We handle everything from social media management to email marketing to visual design, but what really sets us apart is how we see marketing, it’s not a chore to tick off, it’s another stage for creatives to perform on.
What excites me most? We’ve transformed marketing from this ‘necessary evil’ that creatives dread into something that actually feels like a natural extension of their creative process. This actually led to one of our newest freebies The Content Vault.
It’s funny how the best solutions come from your own struggles, right? As an actor, I understood the importance of B-roll, those little moments that help tell the story. But I noticed so many business owners either didn’t know what to film or were sitting on amazing footage they never used. So we created this system that not only stores your B-roll but actually helps you identify those content-worthy moments in your day-to-day work. Truly it’s the system we use for our clients that we’ve packaged up for you.
We’re not just another digital marketing agency. We’re your partners, your creative besties, and honestly, your biggest cheerleaders. At Creatives Meet Marketing, we’re all about helping you shine in the spotlight while we handle the nitty-gritty. So let’s make some magic together, shall we?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
First, is adaptability. But not just the ‘go with the flow’ kind. I’m talking about that theatrical ability to shift between roles while staying true to yourself. As an actor, you learn to be versatile without losing your essence. In business, this translated into being able to understand different client perspectives while maintaining my authentic approach. For anyone starting out, practice stepping into other people’s shoes. Really study how different businesses or creators communicate, not to copy them, but to understand their unique voice.
Second, storytelling & I don’t just mean crafting pretty captions. I mean understanding how to take the messy, real parts of business and turn them into something that connects. For those just starting, start documenting your journey now. Those early struggles and small wins? That’s your story taking shape. Practice finding the narrative in everyday moments is a game changer for content creation.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My mom always created a container for me to succeed, even when there was no space for it. That might sound simple, but it’s actually profound when you think about it. In a world that often tells you exactly what lane to stay in, she helped me believe I could create my own.
It’s funny because now I realize I do the same thing in my business. When clients come to me feeling boxed in by traditional marketing ‘rules,’ I help them find their own way to show up authentically. That’s my mom’s influence right there, creating containers for others to succeed, even when the traditional spaces don’t quite fit.
I’m incredibly grateful for that gift. Because when you grow up knowing that you can create your own space, you stop waiting for permission to exist in places where you ‘don’t belong.’ You just show up and start building.
