Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jennifer Aguilar . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jennifer with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I am a product of an immigrant single mother, who works six days a week to build a foundation is what inspires me. Seeing my mother accomplish her goals has influenced my perception of following my dreams. It is easy to give up on your dreams but you have to remember that great things come from hard work. Also, I would say, my family in general are very hard-working people and have become successful in life due to their work ethic and not crying over spilled milk. I have cousins who are lawyers and uncles that own businesses. I do not buy excuses because that means I am lacking purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a very versatile and curious person, which has been a blessing, to say the least. I started formulating cruelty-free lipstick in my kitchen back in 2021 with the mission and purpose to nurture lips and with the hope to end cosmetic animal testing. It took me six months to come up with the perfect formula, another six months to develop the ideal range of colors, and I would say an additional six months to make it perfect. Formulating lipstick has been my favorite challenge thus far because I had zero knowledge in chemistry. It was just me versus science for a good while, but that did not stop me. I have been selling lipsticks at pop-ups, and it has always been successful, which inspires me even more. Currently, I have only seven shades of lipstick, but eventually, I want to introduce more shades and products. My goal is to build a brand that focuses on organic and cruelty-free ingredients. Mutaats is inspired by the community of love.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
If I could share three pieces of advice with someone starting their journey or pursuing their dreams, they would be:
1. Remember that every problem has a solution. Instead of focusing on the problem, direct your attention towards finding the solution. Dwelling on the problem will only delay your progress towards achieving your goals.
2. Embrace persistence and curiosity. Don’t give up easily; instead, keep your eyes on the bigger picture. Ask yourself questions, conduct research, and seek out knowledge that will propel you forward.
3. Cultivate a deep passion for what you’re doing. When you truly desire something, you won’t make excuses to avoid pursuing it. You’ll be willing to invest significant time and energy because you genuinely enjoy the journey. Be your own cheerleader, and great things will happen.
Remember, the path to success is often challenging, but by focusing on solutions, staying persistent and curious, and nurturing your passion, you can achieve remarkable things.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
We don’t have a specific target clientele; everyone is welcome to explore our brand. However, we have a strong focus on cruelty-free and organic lipsticks. Our lipsticks contain only seven carefully selected ingredients, all derived from nature. Each lipstick is crafted with love and dedication, paying homage to our ancestors. The ingredients have been thoughtfully chosen to provide the best nurturing properties for the lips, using the finest elements from Earth. I thoroughly enjoy meeting clients at pop-up events because they consistently express their admiration for how moisturizing and smooth our lipsticks are.
