Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Edwige Clark. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Edwige with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
As a first-generation Haitian American, my work ethic is deeply inspired by the example my parents and siblings set. As the youngest in my family, I witnessed my parents learn English and transition from hourly employees to successful entrepreneurs. I also observed my two older sisters navigate the public school system, attend Florida State University, and achieve remarkable success—one establishing her own law firm and the other pursuing a career as a nurse practitioner. Hard work is a value deeply ingrained in us; it’s what we know and live by. If you want something, you must put in the effort to achieve it—there are no shortcuts, just sacrifices and learning opportunities.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a senior project manager for Robins & Morton, a privately held construction firm that specializes in healthcare construction, where I spearhead project leadership, along with strategic business development responsibilities. I oversee higher education and healthcare projects in South Florida.
The most exciting part of my job is seeing the projects come to life and make a difference in our communities. With people continuing to move to Florida, the need for healthcare facilities has grown exponentially, and I’m proud to be a part of delivering these projects.
Some projects in South Florida that we are currently building include the Gloria Drummond Patient Tower at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, UHealth at SoLé Mia in North Miami, and Baptist Health Rehabilitation Hospital in South Miami. Additionally, our UHealth Doral Medical Center project, a six-story medical office building in downtown Doral, Florida, recently opened. There are some new projects that we will be starting this year as well, so I am excited about that.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe my initiative, communication skills, and creative problem-solving abilities have been most impactful in my career journey. It’s important to show initiative early on and be willing to take any job given to you. Being eager to learn will go a long way. My communication skills have helped me secure new business and strengthen my relationships with existing clients, potential new clients, and colleagues. Being creative in problem-solving skills can set you apart from your peers and show the organization your value.
For those who are early on in their career journey looking to improve on these skills, be sure you are working in an industry that you are passionate about. When you are, these skills will come easier. Also, find a mentor. A good mentor should be able to guide you in developing these skills and help you gain the knowledge needed to be successful in your industry.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I had a mentor who was very influential in my career. They taught me that it’s important to establish relationships with people before you need them, and that is one thing that really stuck with me. I am proud of the relationships I have built throughout my career that have led to securing new business for Robins & Morton.
