Meet Shannon Kehrer

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shannon Kehrer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Shannon, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

My purpose was found when I solved a problem I had for myself and realized there are millions of others in the world who also had the same problem of their little “no show socks” sliding off of their feet getting bunched under when they would walk around. I solved that problem by designing Hidey Socks with a comfortable anklet because I knew if the socks had a comfy cute anklet then the socks would stay in place AND IT WORKED.
So I dedicated all of my 20’s to bringing this product to life and sharing Hidey Socks with the world.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

The idea for Hidey Socks came from a simple, frustrating experience. I was wearing no-show socks that kept sliding off as I walked, and I got so fed up constantly adjusting them. One day, after a long day at the office, I went home and designed a solution: socks with an anklet to keep them securely in place. To my relief, it worked!

I started asking others if they faced the same issue, and when the majority said yes, I realized I had to bring Hidey Socks to life. I first had this idea when I was 19, but it took a few years to gather resources and figure out how to make it happen. Although I didn’t attend college, my passion and determination fueled my journey.

Being a business owner has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding decisions I’ve made. Knowing that Hidey Socks has helped thousands of people go about their day without worrying about their socks sliding off brings me immense joy.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Grit: A positive trait that involves working hard and staying committed to a goal, even when faced with setbacks

2. Drive: Drive is the internal motivation that propels business owners to pursue their vision relentlessly.

3. Persistence: Persistence ensures that business owners don’t give up after initial failures or rejections.

Together, these qualities create a powerful foundation for success. Grit ensures focus over the long haul, drive provides the energy to push forward, and persistence guarantees resilience in the face of setbacks. Without these traits, it’s easy to lose momentum or give up when things get tough.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

Starting social media ad campaigns has been one of my biggest areas of growth in the past 12 months because it required me to develop new skills, take risks, and learn through experimentation. At first, I had limited knowledge of how to create effective ads or target the right audience. However, I realized how critical social media is for reaching potential customers, especially in today’s digital-first world.

I began by researching platforms, understanding algorithms, and testing different ad strategies. Over time, I learned how to craft compelling visuals and messaging that resonate with my audience and analyzed campaign data to fine-tune my approach. It was a trial-and-error process, but each campaign taught me something new.

This experience not only boosted my confidence in leveraging social media for business growth but also improved my ability to think strategically, manage budgets, and track ROI. Seeing the campaigns drive traffic, generate sales, and grow my brand’s visibility has been incredibly rewarding. It reinforced the importance of adaptability and staying ahead of trends.
