Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cristobal Garrido Solis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cristobal, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I overcame imposter syndrome by acknowledging it as common, reframing my thoughts to focus on my achievements, and letting go of perfectionism. Talking with mentors and tracking accomplishments helped me see my progress, while embracing a growth mindset allowed me to view challenges as opportunities to learn.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am Cristobal Andres Garrido Solis, a commercial pilot student originally from Patagonia Chilena, now living in Portland, Oregon. My passion for aviation began with my brother, a pilot who inspired me during my first flight with him. That experience ignited a love for flying that has shaped my goals and ambitions. Encouraged by my mom, who always supported me in trying new things, I pursued this dream with determination. Now a private pilot, I am currently working toward my instrument rating and commercial pilot license, aiming to contribute to the aviation industry with skill and dedication.
Beyond flying, I share my journey on Instagram and TikTok as @cotogarrido, where I connect with others passionate about aviation and inspire aspiring pilots. I balance my life with weight training, cardio, and a focus on building strength, both physically and mentally. With roots in the rugged beauty of Patagonia and a drive to excel in the skies, I am committed to turning challenges into opportunities and making my mark in the world of aviation.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Perseverance, resilience, and networking.
Every great achievement starts with a small step and a mindset that refuses to quit. The road to success isn’t always smooth, but perseverance and resilience will get you through the toughest challenges. Remember, setbacks are not failures—they’re lessons. Surround yourself with people who inspire you, stay focused on your goals, and trust the process. The sky is the limit, and with dedication, you’ll get there. Don’t give up—your dreams are worth it!
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
Building a presence on social media is a journey, and I’m fully committed to it. As I share my experiences in aviation and personal growth, my goal is to connect with and inspire others who share similar passions. It’s not just about growing numbers; it’s about building a community where we can learn, support, and motivate each other to chase our dreams. I’m grateful for every person who joins me on this journey, and I’m excited to see where this path takes us!
