Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rebekah Allen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rebekah, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome? Oh, it’s definitely a daily journey! I’ve been in my field for just over five years, and one of the biggest breakthroughs for me was simply recognizing and acknowledging those moments of self-doubt. Once I identified what was happening, I made it a point to remind myself: I am experienced, qualified, and accomplished.
A game-changer has been keeping a journal. I jot down milestones, positive feedback from clients and colleagues, and the training courses I’ve completed. It’s become my go-to when I need a tangible reminder that I’m not just doing well—I’m thriving and committed to growth.
Mindset matters! I’ve learned to flip the script when negative self-talk creeps in. Instead of saying, “I can’t” or “I’m not good enough,” I affirm, “I am capable and continuously improving.” It makes a world of difference.
I’ve also made peace with the fact that comparison is the thief of joy. I don’t compare myself or my business to others. Sure, I draw inspiration from others’ success, but I never let it diminish my own journey. We’re all on our own paths, and that’s something worth celebrating! You don’t need to dull someone’s sparkle so you can shine.
A strong support network has been essential, too. I surround myself with people who uplift me and cheer for my success. Negative forces? They don’t get a seat at my table.
Lifelong learning keeps me grounded. I embrace the idea that improvement is a journey, not a finish line. Breaking big goals into manageable pieces and celebrating the small wins along the way keeps me motivated.
Finally, self-compassion is key. I’ve learned to treat myself with kindness, offering the same understanding and forgiveness I would give a friend. At the end of the day, we’re all a work in progress—and that’s something to be proud of!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey as a small woman-owned business are:
Resilience: Let’s be honest—running a business has its twists and turns, but staying resilient through challenges has been a game-changer. Learning to pivot, bounce back, and stay positive has kept my business thriving.
Advice: Build a mindset where setbacks are learning opportunities. Surround yourself with supportive people who lift you up, not hold you back!
Relationship Building: Business is so much more than transactions—it’s about people! Fostering genuine connections with clients and peers has created loyalty and long-term success.
Advice: Focus on building authentic relationships. Listen actively, show up with kindness, and always prioritize excellent service.
Continuous Learning: Staying ahead in my industry means embracing change and never getting too comfortable. I’ve committed to personal and professional growth every step of the way.
Advice: Keep that student mindset alive! Take courses, attend workshops, and stay curious about industry trends. Growth is part of the adventure!
For those just starting out: Remember, your unique voice is your superpower. Stay true to your values, celebrate small wins, and keep showing up—because success is built one step (and a whole lot of heart) at a time!
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I’ve learned that pausing is powerful! Here’s what works for me:
Brain Dump & Prioritize: I grab a notebook, use my chalkboard wall or post-it notes and write everything down—no filter. Then, I break tasks into manageable steps and focus on the top priorities.
Pro Tip: Not everything needs to be done right now. Identify what moves the needle and tackle it first!
Take a Breather: Sometimes, stepping away is the best move. A quick walk, a few deep breaths, or a mini dance break (seriously, it works!) can reset my mindset.
Advice: Give yourself permission to pause—rest fuels creativity and productivity.
Lean on My Support System: I’ve built a circle of incredible mentors, friends, and fellow business owners who remind me I’m not alone.
Tip: Don’t hesitate to ask for help or delegate when possible. Community is everything!
Remember What Matters Most: At the end of the day, life happens, and time is precious. Business is important, but the moments spent with family and friends are irreplaceable.
Advice: Set boundaries and protect your personal time. Success isn’t just about profit—it’s about creating a life you love, filled with moments that truly matter.
My advice? Overwhelm often comes from caring deeply—about your work, your dreams, and your people. Break it down, breathe, and keep moving forward. You’ve got this! 💪
