Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christiana Twenboa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christiana, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
When it comes to resilience, I draw strength from my faith in God. As a believer in Christ, following Him and staying grounded in His word has given me the assurance that I can overcome any obstacle that comes my way. There are times when the weight feels heavy, and I’m tempted to give up, thinking that the battle is too much for me. But in those moments, I remember that God hasn’t given me anything I can’t handle. My faith reminds me that, no matter how tough things get, I can keep going because I trust that it will be well. And knowing that tomorrow is never guaranteed pushes me to keep fighting for the next day, no matter what.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I currently work with students in the Dallas, Texas school system, and I’ve always had a passion for working with young people and pouring into them as much as I can. My journey with youth started at a young age in my church, and from there, it’s just been something I’ve kept pursuing. There’s so much excitement in working with children and seeing the world through their eyes. As the eldest of four in a Ghanaian-American household, being around kids has always felt natural to me.
I’ve always known I had a creative side, but I didn’t fully realize its potential until I took a leap of faith and moved to Texas on my own. It was one of the scariest yet most liberating things I’ve ever done. Being away from family and friends, I turned to social media—specifically TikTok—to share bits of myself and have fun. What started as a way to pass time quickly grew into something I genuinely loved. I found myself constantly experimenting with edits, exploring new ways to enhance my content, and researching ways to make it even better.
My brand focuses on lifestyle, beauty, and inspiring talks. Through creating videos, I found my voice. Even though I still struggle with imposter syndrome from time to time, I’ve gained a newfound confidence that I didn’t have just a few years ago. My hope is that by sharing pieces of my journey, I can inspire a young girl to believe she can do what I do. It doesn’t take anything extraordinary—just the courage to be the best version of yourself.
Though TikTok has been my starting point and holds a special place in my heart, with the recent news of a potential TikTok ban, I’ve started exploring relaunching my YouTube page and continuing my journey on Instagram as well.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities and skills that have helped me on this journey are my resilience, my enthusiasm, and my love for all things creative. I believe these, along with a few other skills, have truly shaped my path. Having these qualities gave me the mindset that I wanted to be great at what I do, and I wouldn’t take no for an answer. Of course, there are days when I question if it’s all worth it, but then I’ll receive a text, comment, or DM that reminds me it’s making a difference for someone.
If I could offer advice to someone early in their journey as a creative or entrepreneur, it would be this: adopting these skills will not only set you up for success, but it will also help you break free from others’ expectations of who you should be. Embrace the work you create, even if it doesn’t get the recognition you expect. Let your attitude shine with positivity, and allow your faith to flow through both yourself and your work—because at the end of the day, your first and most important supporter is you.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
The biggest area of growth for me in the past 12 months has been my mental health. I never fully realized how much my mental health was being affected or how much unresolved baggage from my childhood was holding me back. It impacted my relationships and my interactions with others in ways I hadn’t recognized before. As a strong advocate for mental health, and with a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, I believe in the power of therapy. While I’m not currently practicing as a counselor, I always encourage others to seek therapy whenever possible.
Learning to understand my mind as an adult and giving myself permission to seek help has been liberating. It’s allowed me to face challenges with more confidence and resilience. I know I still have a long way to go on this journey, but the progress I’ve made in the last year has me excited to see what’s next.
