Meet Kevin B Ploth

We recently connected with Kevin B Ploth and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin B, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

Well I can say right off the bat my drive, tenacity and passion comes from my parents. Both Liz, and Bruce M Ploth accomplished artists in their own right showed me how to deal with rejection, to be transparent and self reliant. Then my experience at University of the Arts in Philadelphia (same school Jared Leto, Allelon Ruggiero to name a few attendees of fame and note) from my mentors and professors came honing in my gifts from voice with Paul Wagar, Susan Sulby, dance and movement with Nancy Contra, Manfred Fischbeck, MASK and acting from Walter Dallas, Johnny Hobbs, Drucie McDaniel, James Cunningham, Tap from legendary Levon Anderson. They are all within me in everything I do and what helps me get up in the morning. Though some have passed they all still guide me, crazy as it sounds but they do. Their imprint on me was very profound. The biggest help came from being in the US ARMY… “Time on Target!” and that drive, training and discipline stays with you forever.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

First let’s talk about the fact that there is no “me” without the “we”!
I did not get here with out the help of my team, cast, producers, and sponsors.
There is no way any of this can be accomplished or achieved without them.
All of these people have been with me and some yea for more than forty years to more recently collaborating on other projects.
The vanguard consists of Benny Harrison (from 1988), Michael Sean McGuiness, Paul Wagar, Susan Sulby, Nancy Contra and Myreon Arslan(my agent now) since 1990.
Recent times Vanessa Thorpe, Doug LeBlanc, Julie LeBlanc, Kelley Poling, Jeffry Ross, Mioke Candles, The Cigar Saver, Doug Marcaida, Anthony DeLongis, Charlie Parish, Dr. Marty Urban, Dr. Mike Harper(Patriot Tactical), Norm McCleod(PROPPER Uniforms), David Diaz(Buenos Diaz Media), JD Wesley, Meredith Kalkbrenner, Dr Aaron Ozze, Eddy Rich, RJ Marcaida, Chris Rich, Jackie McCarth, Sara Touijer, Shawn Parsons(Hell if I Know), Jordan & Jessica Bennet, Cody Cowel, Vinny Gomez, Diego Aguirre, Ed Truco and even the VME(Veterans in Media and Entertainment) they all have put in and that you can not put a price tag on it.

There are two big projects at this moment.
The GIANT is more than just a TV show; it’s a cultural phenomenon that resonates with authenticity and diversity. Like Hidden Gems, THE GIANT celebrates individuality and the extraordinary in everyday life.
Our shared values of quality, passion, and a commitment to excellence make us the ideal television show to watch
The GIANT is in Pre-Production and has Global distribution thanks to BWMG via AVOD(Advertising Video On Demand) with potential of a buy out. We are filming this as a feature and cutting it up into five episodes in hopes of more seasons.

We are looking for investors and partners as well as brands to do product placement.

Open to any help in any form.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I’ve learned firsthand the importance of strong leadership, effective communication, and fostering a positive work environment. Managing a large creative team can be a complex and challenging task, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.

One of the most crucial aspects of leadership is building trust and respect. By treating my team members with dignity and fairness, I’ve been able to create a culture of open communication and collaboration. I encourage my team to share their ideas, voice their concerns, and take ownership of their work. By empowering them, I’m not only motivating them but also fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose.

Maintaining high morale is essential for any creative team. When people are happy and engaged, they’re more productive and innovative. To achieve this, I prioritize work-life balance, recognize and reward achievements, and create opportunities for professional growth. By investing in my team’s well-being, I’m investing in the future of ARTIMIS.

Another key to effective leadership is adaptability. The entertainment industry is constantly evolving, and it’s important to be able to pivot and respond to change. By embracing new technologies, staying up-to-date on industry trends, and encouraging experimentation, we can stay ahead of the curve.

As a veteran, I’ve learned the importance of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. These values have helped me navigate the challenges of running a production company. By instilling these values in my team, I’ve created a strong, resilient, and highly motivated workforce.

Ultimately, the success of ARTIMIS is a testament to the collective effort of our entire team. By working together, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve our shared goals. I’m proud to be part of such a talented and dedicated group of individuals.

I recommend two key books to read, The Mask of Command: by John Keegan, and The Empty Space: by Peter Brook.

KBP’s 10 Directing Secrets 101
1) Don’t waste time
2) Do away with Table Reads and unnecessary meetings 3)Most importantly Be Specific!
4) Value your talent and what they bring to the table
5) Hire more veterans and first responders they make better workers and talent plus a huge tax break
6) Don’t be a diva or ever use “I am the director!” Your human, bleed and have no power no one does….
7) Listen
8) Own it! You make a decision own it never falter!
9) Admit when you’re wrong!
10) Be YOU! Don’t ever take a knee, beg or chase anyone!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

As for collaborations. At ARTIMIS we look for IP’s(Intellectual Property), people who are hungry to work and want to have a voice. We prioritize Veterans, First Responders and their family members.
For example working with Travis Harman a veteran who wrote REMOTE OUTPOST being with the US ARMY in Afghanistan and now we are working on making this either a television show or a feature. We shall see.
In other areas we look for musicians, fine artists, writers, talent , photographers you name it and if they are veterans or a first responder even better.

From a corporate point of view we are looking for and to work with ANGEL INVESTORS or Seed Funding to help grow all of our potential shows that have distribution but need good cash flow to pay for all these talented people.

I have been able to get this far with all the people mentioned in the previous paragraphs as well as my family. More hand up the better not hand outs.
